Kata Restaurant (Gluten and Lactose Free): what do users think?
Ольга Демидова
Ольга Демидова: To be honest, I would never go to a restaurant with a gluten and lactose free sign. But it was late, our hotel was opposite this restaurant, and our daughter was hungry. Food is rather expensive (beer is cheap). But it is delicious. What was even more important, it didn’t take us much time to get the food. I would recommend beef burger, tagliatelle with shrimp and soup goulash.
Denisa Ghaniová
Denisa Ghaniová: I was here for the first time before Covid with friends because we have various food allergies (I, personally, am gluten intolerant). It was love at first sight! The food is delicious even for my "normal" friends without any allergies (my husband says the pasta tastes just like normal gluten pasta). We came here again after few years and the food was still as excellent as we remember it. I know I will visit this place whenever I will be in Budapest :) P. S. Try cocktails and desserts, too. They are as tasty as other meals.
Claire McElligott
Claire McElligott: I was very conscious of coming to Budapest being coeliac. When I saw Kata Restaurant my eyes lit up. We ate here 2 days out the 4!!! Everything was gluten free. The food was absolutely amazing. My mom who has no allergies also loved the food. The staff were fabulous and the prices were great. Would highly HIGHLY reccomend. Thank you. ✨ Dietary restrictions: Coeliac dream
Róbert Štecák
Róbert Štecák: Everything is gluten free. Food is delicious, a lot of foods, that you can choose. Desert a and coffee were delicious too. Atmosphere is very nice and there is a pleasant staff
Jakub Jahic
Jakub Jahic: First time we came here because of my wife who is gluten intolerant. We came second and third time because of the food. Its absolutely delicious and I dont mind at all that its gluten and lactose free. I couldnt even notice that. They also make very good coctails. We will come here everytime we visit Budapest. P.S; have fetuccini with salmon
Lídia Zivkovic
Lídia Zivkovic: A really nice glutenfree restaurant. The portions are not that big, but they are just right if you order all courses: starter, soup, main and dessert. Salmon was good.
Gili Eizen
Gili Eizen: All the menu in this restaurant is gluten-free. Very nice and kindly service. The food is tasty and Decent prices
Beth Jenkins
Beth Jenkins: Not truly gluten free as some of the drinks contain gluten. Bland food and poor service, lack of vegetarian/vegan options. Only two stars because a lot of friends enjoyed their cocktails (they were not the friends with allergies, one of which became unwell immediately).
Emine Kurtulmuş
Emine Kurtulmuş: Gluten free restaurant with delicious food. We had a dinner here and the food and the service were both good.

Bohémtanya Gluténmentes Vendéglő (Gluten-Free Restaurant): what do users think?
Mariana R.
Mariana R.: FOR A REAL LOCAL EXPERIENCE! I fell in love with this restaurant and in a 3 days trip, went there twice. The food is really local tasty, the environment is traditional Hungarian and their staff is the final touch, because they are extremely kind and nice. I had such a lovely time and tasty meal in my first dinner there and following a couple of bad experiences on my following meals I just wanted to come back there because I was sure I would not be disappointed!! Lovely tasty meal!
Odile
Odile: MY FAVORITE HUNGARIAN RESTAURANT IN BUDAPEST! I came here 4 times and it was always a great experience. Prices are affordable, the menu offers a wide range of tasty dishes and the staff is adorable.
Adam Gabriel
Adam Gabriel: Its a gluten free reataurant, and a bit expensive. The atmosphere is nice, the food is fine. The cucumber salad I ordered contained too much vinegar, I asked for more water for the salad, and the waiter was very helpful. The bill includes the tip, but we only recognised it after we payed.
William Haun
William Haun: I ate here twice and only after realized it was gluten-free. That’s saying a lot because I love me some gluten! Portions are massive - too much in fact. Their rice was incredible - not sure what they did to make it so yummy. Menu is a bit limited (makes sense now that I know it’s gluten-free). Server was super friendly.
Sarmizia Fetcu
Sarmizia Fetcu: I really enjoyed the food and services. They dont have many options in the menu but ... The roasted goose with mash potatos (cooked with onion) and sweet red cabage (plus an interesting sauce with trufle) was delicious and the gulas soup and special chicken with an incredible sauce was exceptional as well. Thank you for the very good meal in our first day in Budapest.
Ildana Ruzybayeva
Ildana Ruzybayeva: Good service but the food didn’t fully match our expectations. Maybe its the dishes we ordered (chicken and beef with dumplings) but they felt a bit stale. Cucumber salad and the dessert were good though.
Brittany Grosser
Brittany Grosser: Kind, funny, and helpful servers. Everything is gluten free, and much of it seems to be lactose free as well. It was delicious and the portions were a great size. It was very reasonably priced, too!
Alia Poonawala
Alia Poonawala: If you are gluten free and you want to eat traditional Hungarian food, THIS IS THE SPOT. Homemade, comforting, food and alllllll gluten free. Get the dumplings with sour cream, my goodness they were good.
The Girl With A Pen
The Girl With A Pen: We enjoyed a pleasant dinner here. The menu was limited but what we ordered was delicious. The prices were ok, slightly higher, but we enjoyed ourselves.
Ruby
Ruby: Service was quick and the waitress was friendly, but the food was a let down unfortunately. Visually stunning but not stunning in terms of taste buds. The most expensive meal we have had in Budapest, and simultaneously the worst

Arantza Letosa
Arantza Letosa: Excellent place. The waitress was amazing. Very good gluten free food. Vegetarian options too. Gluten free beers. We ordered different places: Copenhagen burger, Asian bowl, roast chicken with rice, hummus, potatoes and hunters bowl. Everything tasty
Julee Schoch
Julee Schoch: I came here with my gluten free friends and they were ecstatic. The hamburgers were great. I had the honey glazed chicken, simple yet tasty. There was something for everyone and the lady who served us (the owner?) went out of her way to make our experience a great one. She knew her food and was obviously proud of the place.
kara burrows
kara burrows: Chose Monkeys for the gluten free as i was suffering from too many Langos! Monkeys is highly highly recommended! Wish we found it sooner! Amazing burger, the beef was wonderfully cooked!! And just the burger was very filling but i have to rave about their gluten-free burger bun! , it was soft, spongy and melt in your mouth compared to normal GF bread that tends to be chewy. The waitress was so so lovely, spoke wonderful english and we had a good few giggles with her. Wish we had time to come back again!
Linnea
Linnea: Great gluten-free burgers and beers would highly recommend to anyone looking for a burger, even if you do not need it to be specifically gluten-free. Very nice people working there who knows the menu well ☺️ Dietary restrictions: Gluten free
Li Emm
Li Emm: It’s a ready good place to eat and drink when you’re having a (gluten) allergie. The lady who serves you, is great and can give you al the information about al the foods and drinks. The burger is the best I ever had and is for sure a must do in Bulgary. (I had the blue cheese and it’s a good inspiratiebron to true of you love cheese!)
Beluga
Beluga: A.W.E.S.O.M.E! What more can I say? A humble looking place from the outside, both fun and very charming on the inside. Choose from a relaxed sofa, cozy corner or barstools and study the most generous menu I’ve seen in a very long time (67 beers, 8 of them gluten free, 10 different burgers for instance etc etc) A very friendly, knowledgeable and interested staff - I was almost charmed off the chair … But the proof of the burger is of course in the eating. I had the difficult choice between the Coppenhagen and the Bluecheese - my guess I would not have been disappointed with any of them - I for sure was not with the Bluecheese. Juicy, exactly the right hue of pink, on the drop the right amount of condiments, crunchy cucumbers perfectly paired with sweet onion chutney, and crispy salad to top it off. Bread just the right amount of toast. With the grilled potatoes and a suitable dip (for example the curry) on the side, all you need to do is decide on a beer to follow. Enjoy!
Larissa S
Larissa S: An amazing place! We had a starter, main and dessert, all of the courses were so good! There was such a wide selection for people who are gluten and dairy free. The price was also very reasonable for the quality of the good. The waitress was very friendly and helpful too.
Holly Hagan-Walker
Holly Hagan-Walker: Amazing gluten free restaurant, everything on menu gluten free, kitchen and staff coeliac/gluten free so was nice to know I was in safe hands! Absolutely delicious burgers!!!

Napfényes Restaurant and Confectionery: what do users think?
vee dee
vee dee: Amazing vegan restaurant with lots of yummy dishes to choose from! We got the pizza and risotto- both were amazing. The prices were very fair and we were surprised at how affordable it was considering the restaurant looked so upscale! The service was great too- staff was very attentive and nice. Highly recommend coming here for dinner- it is a great spot especially for date night. They also have tasty desserts!
PARIKSHIT KAPILA
PARIKSHIT KAPILA: Nice vegan restaurant with good service and friendly staff. Pizza was really good. Asian style noodles and zucchini with quinoa were also nice to have. Only thing was that we had order at one go as we reached at just after 8 and since they had to close at 9pm,they suggested that they will pack the food. Although I understand as they also had to start their dinner after a long day. I would say it is a must try in Budapest.
Elle Loupandina
Elle Loupandina: Good vegan dinner. We came here on our first night in Budapest. Very nice staff, helpful and cheery. We had the large bean gulash that comes in a cute bucket, seitan with potatoes and fries. The gulash was amazing! The seitan and potatoes were flavorful but a bit much and fried. In fact most things are geared towards fried. Not bad just something to consider. For dessert we had the gluten free sugar free dumplings and they were amazing. Very interesting flavor, not something I’ve ever had before and might never find again so definitely recommend just even to try. I also had the ginger hot drink which is just grated ginger and hot water, very warming on a cold night. Overall a good experience!
Laszlo Torok
Laszlo Torok: I can’t praise this restaurant enough. High quality very tasty vegan Hungarian food. I come here every time I am in Budapest. They also have a daily menu which is excellent value for money. It is a 100% percent vegan restaurant which also mean zero cross contamination with non vegan food. The staff is so friendly and welcoming too. I can’t recommend enough this vegan oasis in the heart of Budapest.
Krithika Sankaranarayanan
Krithika Sankaranarayanan: Delicious vegetarian food. I had theor goulash soup and zucchini spaghetti. Soup was great (heavily recommend), spaghetti was good but little on the salty side. I am glad I found this place. Much needed veg refreshment.
N. Preston
N. Preston: Perfect service and delicious food. The first place I found serving traditional Hungarian food 100% vegan. I’d highly recommend the Hungarian soup and bread to start. Amazing! Will be back.
Will Grove
Will Grove: The best food I found in Budapest! So good that we went twice! The bean goulash soup and the seitan roast (pictured) were both incredible - so rich and flavoursome. Highly recommend if you are in the city and looking for well priced, delicious vegan food. Will return if I am in the city again

Desiree Ayon
Desiree Ayon: One of my top dining spots when I go to Budapest. Both the setting and the service are outstanding. Gabriel, who served as our host, was incredibly kind and accommodating. He also made some excellent food recommendations. Even though we were a group of 9, our drinks and food were still delivered quite quickly. Due to its popularity, we had to make our reservations two months in advance, but it was completely worth it. They had everything set up for our dinner, which was a birthday celebration. They brought a bottle of champagne and some cake at the end.
Response: Dear Desiree! Thank you very much for your kind words and feedback in the name of the entire team! We look forward to welcoming you back anytime! Kind regards, Mazel Tov
Terence Sumpter
Terence Sumpter: Wow. Book your table now! (Also, if you book your table, skip the queue outside!) but seriously.. get booked! Staff are great, atmosphere is fantastic and the food is phenomenal! I had been recommended this place back in 2020 when I first visited Budapest - alas I ran out of time and didn’t get to visit. I made sure of it this time and wasn’t disappointed at all. I’ll now also wax lyrical about the quality of this establishment!
Response: Dear Terence! Thank you very much for your kind words and feedback in the name of the entire team! We're glad you enjoyed the food, and you had a great time. We look forward to welcoming you back anytime! Kind regards, Mazel Tov
Angelos Angelidis
Angelos Angelidis: I loved the atmosphere anf the service was very good. Make sure you make a reservation. Quite popular place. The food was mixed. The starters were amazing but the mixed meat platter for two was poor, very dry meatballs and the same for the chicken. Quite expensive considering the quality but the atmosphere was great. I d prefer it for drinks and starters
Chloe H
Chloe H: This is a must for dining in Budapest. We were recommended by a friend and wow did it not disappoint. Whilst we did a walk in (got the last table) I recommend making a reservation. We tried and the next slot was over a week and a half away. Our dinner cost about £90 for two which consisted of 2 starters, 2 mains, 4 cocktails, water, jug of beer and two jägers. The food was delicious, the atmosphere amazing and our waitress was so accommodating. We will be back next time we are in Budapest.
Response: Dear Chloé! Thank you for taking the time to provide us with this lovely feedback. We are delighted to hear that you have had a great time when visiting Mazel Tov. Look forward to welcoming you back. Kind regards, Mazel Tov
Russell Kelly
Russell Kelly: We had the pleasure of dining at Mazel Tov tonight and the meal was nothing short of fantastic. We were hosted by Uri who went out of his way to explain some of the menu items to us and made our experience all the better with his ease of conversation and knowledge of the menu. With that said the food truly does speak for itself and my wife and I left not only with a full stomach and a smile on our face but also with a new cook book to add to our ever growing collection. Pictures are below but they cannot do the flavors the justice they deserve absolutely worth 5 stars.
Response: Dear Russel! Thank you for leaving us such a wonderful review. We are thrilled that you loved your experience. We put customer experience and satisfaction as our priority, and your review reaffirms the hard work we put in every day. We look forward to seeing you again. Kind regards, Mazel Tov
Jess Gillett
Jess Gillett: Loved this place! Some of the tastiest Israeli/Middle Eastern food I’ve ever had. You definitely need to make a reservation as we arrived on Saturday and I couldn’t get a table until the day we left on Tuesday at lunchtime. But it was well worth it.
OMER
OMER: Lovely place to both eat or drink. Quite relaxing atmosphere. Very popular amongst tourist. Good service and friendly, ok prices. Need reservation usually. Ambiance is great. One of my favorite must go places in Budapest.
Response: Dear Omer! Thank you for leaving us such a wonderful review. We are thrilled that you loved your experience. We put customer experience and satisfaction as our priority, and your review reaffirms the hard work we put in every day. We look forward to seeing you again. Kind regards, Mazel Tov
Nicholas Hood
Nicholas Hood: First big notes, excellent ambience and decor. Really a beautiful interior with an airy feel and some live music some evenings. The ingredients were fresh and the offerings unique and clever and tasted carefully made. I thought it was a refreshing change to the typical Eastern European cuisine. I usually complain about the sodium content being too high but here was the rare instance I thought it could use more; not a significant complaint at all… The real complaint I have and I think it reasonable was the alcoholic cocktails (we ordered 4) were nearly without alcohol. I suppose not a serious issue but when you pay a certain amount for a mixed drink and mostly receive fruit juices and soda, it feels dishonest. I think this is a quality restaurant that keeps an eye on everything coming in and out of their establishment. It can’t be a mistake, they are intentionally serving low alcohol and seemingly for profit.
Response: Dear Nicholas! Thank you for bringing this to our attention. We apologize for the inconveniences you faced during your stay. We will share your feedback with our staff and make the necessary changes. We hope you choose to visit with us again, so we can make this up for you and have a better experience. Kind regards, Mazel Tov

Annalisa Marino
Annalisa Marino: I loved this place! there should be more vegan venues like this in the world! vegan food is good, colorful and healthy and respects the land that gives us all this. if i go back to Budapest i will come again! see you soon, from an italian vegetarian girl❤️
Rodrigo Azevedo
Rodrigo Azevedo: The food is perfect. Very tasty. They have a wide range of options for hamburgers, hot dogs and sides. They also offer nice drinks.
Andras Peter
Andras Peter: We came here for lunch and all four of us absolutely loved the dishes we got (gyros plate, Philly cheesetake, sweet potato burger). Staff was very helpful and friendly. Great experience overall. We will come back to as soon often as we can.
Lillith Freeman
Lillith Freeman: We got hotdogs and they were very tasty! Delicious toppings and the “sausage” itself was lovely - but we felt the ratio of bread/toppings to the actual sausage meant you could barely taste the sausage. Bigger dog needed would be my only criticism (: Staff were lovely.
Ersin Dogan
Ersin Dogan: Best burger, really huge portions, delicious taste +5 stars. Table cleaning makes -1 star. No soap in toilet -1 star.
Radhika Thakrar
Radhika Thakrar: Delicious vegan “junk food”. I’m not always a fan of this kind of food but this was really yum! We got the enchiladas, corndog and vegan shrimp. I’d get all of them again! Obviously not mega healthy but I enjoyed it v much!
Eva Komarkova
Eva Komarkova: One of the best vegan places to find in Budapest. Great fried chicken burger, big Kahuna burger, loaded sweet potato fries and amazing French croissant & pastry❤️
Natasha G
Natasha G: Delicious food. Great vegan place close to the city center. Though a bit small, they need to expand. :) I had the Mexican dog and it was tasty. I also had a salad from the salad bar, it was delicious. I always enjoy more getting a salad as I can choose what and how much to put. Plus, it has healthier options, so do not miss out trying the salad bar. Two years later, post COVID, the place is even better. Well done! They have digitized the ordering, so it goes quicker. But most importantly, they have some menu additions that are delicious. The loaded fries are yummy. There is summer outside seating.
Julianna Vida
Julianna Vida: We gave this place at least five shots, the food is just not good. I’m truly baffled at why people seem to like this place. Is it that vegans are just happy to have a vegan street food place? Budapest doesn’t have that many vegan options, is it that we are just happy to have it? Tonight we gave it another try, after promising that we would never ever get it again, hoping to turn this around. And yet again, the food sucks! The bread on both the burger and hot dog was stale. The hot dog bun was straight up hard. The burger was dry and tasteless. I don’t know man… this place is way overhyped. Vegans deserve better than bread they can knock on like it’s wood.

Vegan Garden: what do users think?
Terence Sumpter
Terence Sumpter: The food is excellent, and totally vegan - what also shines is the serving staff; they’re absolutely lovely. They cannot do enough to be helpful. The shared starter for two was fantastic and the risotto and pizza were absolutely delicious. It was a treat to have a vegan affogato - haven’t ever seen that on a menu! Don’t hesitate to pop in for a bite. Lovely atmosphere, super food and delightful staff. You’ll be well-looked after!
Kristof Erdelyi
Kristof Erdelyi: Nice variety of vegan dishes on the menu. The presentation and the ambience was also good. They messed up the order in many ways, but eventually we could resolve it and got charged only for the items we really ordered and consumed. Because of the mistake, they didn’t charge us service fee. The place was full, so I recommended to book a table is you want to make sure you can sit.
Pantelis Demetriou
Pantelis Demetriou: We were happy to find a vegan restaurant open on NY day and the staff accommodated us quickly. The pizza was excellent and we enjoyed the salad, hummus and noodle soup as well. A nice vegan restaurant with a lovely atmosphere. It also had a nice bar area. Dietary restrictions: Great for vegans!
Stella Marcius
Stella Marcius: First of all, the ambience is chilly and comfortable. The waiter is not rude (this is considered a compliment in Budapest). I ordered Stuffed Eggplant which moderately disappoints me. It is a slice of roasted eggplant with a slice of vegan cheese on it, beautifully resting on a bed of greens (literally, cos the green is overflowing and really compact). The burger my friend ordered is nice, complemented with sweet potato fries. They also have selections of dessert, we ordered two. One of them has completely dried out already. The cake was okay.
Rosie Ernst
Rosie Ernst: A wonderful place to visit for a relaxing time with friends. The ambience is calming, the lasagna super tasty and the service was very friendly, from the wait staff and the kitchen. Various seating options are available; couches for coffee, higher tables to enjoy a drink and regular tables for those who wish to enjoy a meal. I will definitely visit again when in Budapest.
Nihar Mehta
Nihar Mehta: Good place for vegetarians Decent food Soup was hearty. Fries were great. Salad was excellent. V v slow service
Marta Daidola
Marta Daidola: Great food. Caesar salad was very good with parmigiano, chick’n and dressing. The pizza was very good too, including the dough. A little more on the expensive side for Hungary standards, but reasonable for a nicer lunch. They charge a service tax. My waiter was also very nice, the other waiters looked a bit lost and weren’t that efficient so I’m glad he served my table.
Claudia Hirtenfelder
Claudia Hirtenfelder: We had an excellent meal. We shared several salads and got the calzone. The food was beautifully displayed and simply delicious. This is vegan food done at its finest!
Response: Thanks a lot for your feeeback 🌱 hope to see you soon again 😊🙏

Gundel Cafe Patisserie Restaurant: what do users think?
Kiss Zsolt
Kiss Zsolt: If you are in Budapest and want to eat something really great then you need to visit Grundel. Probably it’s one of the greatest restaurants in Hungary. The service was on point. They are really paying attention to everything. They are also having live music that gives the place an extraordinary feeling. The food was one of the best that I have ever tried in Hungary. If you are having breakfast you really need to try Eggs Benedict. Really wonderful place to eat and really recommend it. The prices are also not that high.
Response: Dear Kiss Zsolt! thank you for taking the time to leave a wonderful review. We look forward to seeing you again at our The Most Famous Hungarian Restaurant. Your Gundel Cafe Patisserie Restaurant Team
Masha
Masha: The most delicious food I’ve eaten in Budapest so far. The prices are not too high, the sizes of the dishes are just perfect and the taste is mesmerizing. I really recommend to try the home lemonade (I really want to make one myself now). Also nearly every table is named after some popular person that ate there (Queen Elizabeth II, Angelina Jolie, Brad Pitt, Abba, etc.). 10/10
Response: Dear Masha, Thank you very much for giving us the highest rating, especially for writing about the reasonable prices and the quantity and quality of the food. We hope to see you again and that you will give our restaurant a good reputation. It was a pleasure to read your post. Best regards, Gundel's team
Bel
Bel: We had the signature Gundel Pancakes and award winning Somlo sponge cake with Gundel Coffee. All were great. If you are not into sweet stuff that much, best to share them. Make a reservation before coming as they are popular. Nice ambience and beautiful interiors. A recommended itinerary is to do Szechenyi Baths in the morning, Gundel Cafe for lunch and circus for after lunch activity. :)
Response: Dear Guest, Thank you for your time and kind words. We are delighted you enjoyed your experience. The Gundel Cafe Patisserie Restaurant team looks forward to welcoming you back! For more information: www.gundel.hu/en/
George Ennifer-Stanley
George Ennifer-Stanley: My first fine dining experience and it was truly magical. Attentive staff, delicious food and beautiful live music. The thought of fine dining was rather intimidating at first but the staff at Gundel made us feel like we belonged there.
Response: Dear George Ennifer-Stanley, Thank you so much for your kind words! Our staff is always delighted to read such satisfied reviews. Gundel Cafe Patisserie Team
Kata Budapest tour guide
Kata Budapest tour guide: Recently renovated super nice restaurant in the city park. Opened in the 19th century, long history, connected to Karoly Gundel’s name. Lovely dishes, tasty coffee, yummy cakes in an elegant atmosphere. Pleasant live music all day long. Open from 9 in the morning. Right next to the Zoo and Heroes square 😉
Response: Dear Kata, thank you for your review. We are delighted, that you were happy with us. We are looking forward to welcoming you again soon in our restaurant. Stay safe and healthy. Best regards, Your Gundel Cafe Patisserie Restaurant Team
keti kvichidze
keti kvichidze: Great restaurant p in Budapest near the Buda Castle district.. Service was very quick and nice & excellent .Food is fantastic. Well made and presented. Thank you for this waiter in PhotoFood: 5/5 | Service: 5/5 | Atmosphere: 5/5 …More
Response: Dear keti kvichidze, Thank you for visiting our restaurant. Guest experience is our priority. Our colleague Istvan, the sommellier of the restaurant, thanks you very much for your service. He sends you his best regards. The Gundel Team
Noy Erez
Noy Erez: Traditional restaurant - very old fashion. We had a reservation but the restaurant was almost empty. The food was good. The service was also good. Maybe too much attention... The music (piano) was a little bit too noisy
Response: Dear Noy Erez! Thank you for taking your time to write your feedback! Gundel Cafe Patisserie Restaurant Team
Kristian Kielmayer
Kristian Kielmayer: Truly historic place in the little City Park (Városliget) of Budapest. Re-opened just recently so we kind of had some expectations but it was rather disappointing. Staff is friendly the interior looks fine. But then they have 2-3 different chairs which gives the place a strange feeling. We went for Saturday dinner, our part of the restaurant back half was only 50% full yet they still have such a close seating that you lose the intimacy and private feeling. Ca. 50cm to the next table is not really acceptable. The food was good, this was the good part and the majority of the 4 star rating is based on this as well as the people where friendly. But completely unorganized, there were plenty of waiters but lack of organisation (table next to us came 30 min later but got the main course earlier) left a sour taste overall.
Response: Dear Kristian Kielmayer, We appreciate your sharing your review with us. Thank you Gundel Cafe Patisserie Restaurant Team
Monika Varga
Monika Varga: Very special Hungarian restaurant, part of our Hungarian history and food culture. We loved it very much. The pianist plays beautiful music. Thank you.
Response: Dear Monika Varga! Thank you so much for taking the time to rate our restaurant to the maximum. It is always a pleasure for us to have a positive confirmation. The team at Gundel Cafe Patisserie Restaurant welcomes you back in the morning from 09:00 to 22:00, every day!

Aaron Sharma
Aaron Sharma: We were looking for authentic Hungarian lunch, this place is a hole in the wall and very easy to walk past. The hosts are very welcoming and warm. They helped us understand the food and answered our questions with patience. There are bar stools to sit and enjoy your meals. Very reasonably priced and fresh. They have mostly vegetarian options. I ate the spinach and cauliflower soup and fried chicken on the side. It was really simple flavour and nice meal.
Olga Shkurenko
Olga Shkurenko: Super delicious soups and pottages!!! 😃we have tried 3 types: mushroom soup, black lentil pottage and greenbean pottage❤️ we loved it!
Vincenta Gurauskaitė
Vincenta Gurauskaitė: I love this place! I work nearby and I’m so happy to have you so close! Always fresh, hot, healthy, super tasty food. I believe in your quality, it’s like to eat at home🌿 Also cozy little place and cute service. Wish these people all the best! 🧘‍♀️❤️
Santravelz
Santravelz: A good spot to get some healthy soups/pottage such as like green pea pottage and tasty milk pie for dessert. The place is tiny with a few small tables so mostly a takeout spot. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian soups
Ema Topalović
Ema Topalović: Every day is a new menu, homemade soups and portages! They are very delicious, especially if it’s cold outside they will warm you up.
Martin Fodor
Martin Fodor: Best place to alleviate your vegetable soup/stew craving in Budapest. Vegetarian and vegan options are also available with the allergens listed on their daily menu. Warm and delicious meals made with love!
András Vizsy
András Vizsy: Quality food, nice little place - one can try ‘főzelék’ here that is the love child of a soup and a vegetable stew...or at least this would be my best guess to describe it. Anyways, good stuff
David Chadsey
David Chadsey: Really nice place with good and affordable soups. Change daily and they post the offerings in English and Hungarian. Good place to try the fruit and berry cold soups Hungary is known for. Great for a simple yet very tasty lunch or snack especially after so much heavy Hungarian food.
Gina B.
Gina B.: The stew was very nice, the bread a bit stale. Music a bit too upbeat for a cozy flair, other that descent little place.

Hatulitos TV
Hatulitos TV: The staff was so nice, they have excellent fresh juices, excellent food but a little lack of flavor. They have Gluten free options including hamburger, the gluten free bread is home made, everything was excellent but i recommend improvement in flavors. The prices are a little expensive too. I recommend this place.
Rodion Busigin
Rodion Busigin: Very nice vegan cafe. Great and tasty options of burgers, soups and other healthy options. Freshly squeezed juices, teas, coffees. Had two meals there (so far :) ) Burger. With home baked bread was huge and really good. And scrambled egg for breakfast. My favorite - orange croisant! Staff is really friendly and helpful. Speaking good English. Highly recommend. Although prices are not very cheap but portions are huge!
Freya Daisy
Freya Daisy: Fantastic! The food was delicious, fresh and really wholesome. I was really impressed! The portions are generous too. I had the hamburger plate and I loved it. Special mention for their homemade lemonade which is divine ❤
Lillith Freeman
Lillith Freeman: We got a mix plate, bit of everything, and it was all absolutely delicious. And for the price you get so much food, we stuffed ourselves.I didn’t really like the homemade green juice it was full of bits that made it hard to drink, had to really chew every sip. But the food itself was amazing.
Lawliet Journey
Lawliet Journey: Cozy place and friendly staff. Delicious food!! Try their juices, the berry beet one is so delicious. Husband loves the veggie burger!! And the plates are huge. Super great deal for the price.
SEEMA
SEEMA: Absolutely fantastic place for vegans to eat a full meal with good variety and a special dessert. Their daily special menu is at a reasonable rate and available only till 15:00 or so.
Maria Chirik
Maria Chirik: We had a variety of food but it was a little bit expansive for us. We paid 25€ for 2 people. But the guy who sell the food he speaks English and politely explained to us everything ❤️Recommended dishes Vegan Food …More
Emmett Moulton
Emmett Moulton: This family business is wonderful. The vibes are awesome, the music is perfect, the food is really good, the cappuccinos were 👌, and overall it was a wonderful place to chill in the rain before our train ride. Sabi is a wonderful vibe of a dude who exudes good vibes and kindness. I felt very homey and welcome in this small restaurant, chatting with Sabi helped. Good luck in your business studies! When we are back in Budapest, we will go here.

Je suis très fatigué
Je suis très fatigué: What a great night we had! The food was really nice! Absolutely well presented and very tasty and so rich in flavours! We went for the set menu with wine pairing and we loved it! Each plate was so nice to look at and well introduced by the waiter, Adam. Outstanding costumer service, great location and beautiful interiors. Deft recommends it!
Antoine
Antoine: Very good experience. The different courses might look small, but you get full quite quickly with all of the intermediary tastings. With two 5 courses menus, 1 wine pairing and 2 glasses of champagne, the total price was 110,000 forint (~300 eur)
孙强
孙强: very nice restaurant, beyond my expectation. wine glass is Zalto, which is very beautiful and classic. food is fantastic, must try the lamb and pike perch. the wine recommended for the food is also very suitable. will recommend this place to my friends and go.there again

Paprika Jancsi Restaurant: what do users think?
Bradley P
Bradley P: This was the first restaurant we stopped at after landing in Budapest. It was a nice introduction to some of the unique cuisine here. We both started our meals off with a goulash soup, which was really tasty. Then we ordered the pork over vegetable and potato skins. We both really enjoyed the meal!
Lucky-Twins
Lucky-Twins: Went to this restaurant with friends. Food was delicious, portions were really big, so we couldn’t finish it. Staff was friendly and attentive. Also we got some drinks from the restaurant as a compliment, and it made our day :) The restaurant is located in the center, it takes about 5-7 mins by foot to a metro station.
Erika Mae Torres
Erika Mae Torres: Me and friends came and the staff was not very welcoming at all. We were super hungry and we ordered food right away. Waited almost an hour just to find out that they mistakenly switched my order with another table and not even said sorry afterwards. Food was good and abundant though but the pork knuckle which we were looking forward to, was just a hard piece of meat, very hard to chew.
Michael Smiddy
Michael Smiddy: First place I tried after arriving to my accommodation in the city. Indoor or outdoor dining available with blankets provided if it’s a bit chilly outside. Opted for the wild boar stew with ‘noodles’ ie Hungarian gnocchi. Very tasty and would recommend. The pork schnitzel looked very good on the next table to me
Stefan Geisseler
Stefan Geisseler: I was always satisfied with the meat dishes (goulash soup, pörkölt) here. I would give this part a 4+. But whenever I came here, the beverages (Coca Cola in a bottle) were not really cold and not sparkling enough. It would be the simplest thing to serve cold and fresh beverages on a hot summer day, but they just don’t seem to manage it. Additionally the service is very poor. You order a “very cold” beverage and you just get it not properly cooled down without any comment, until you complain about it. But also then they do nothing else about it than to confirm your complain and walk away with a shrug. The side dish additionally was somehow even wasted this time. It did not smell fresh and I got some stomach problems after I left the restaurant, even tough I tried only a little. They tried to argue about it, that it is normal that it smells/tastes like that, but I was here and know how it tastes when it is fresh. You also have to tell the service several times to pay, as they walk away too fast, not listening to you till the end. And for the poor service and bad quality they charge you anyway fully (you are forced to pay the service charge).
Piotr Cegła
Piotr Cegła: Special place for tourists. Wonderful food, big portions, good bear. I recommend chicken breast stew with cottage cheese - delicious!!! If you are in Budapest, you should sit here and try hungarian food.
Adelina D
Adelina D: Good food, but not wow - nothing special, nice atmosphere. They have a very varied menu. But the serving should be a little bit improved.

Essência Restaurant - Tiago & Éva: what do users think?
w ss
w ss: A beautiful restaurant in the center of Budapest. We just loved the decor and the ambiance. As for the food and service, both excellent. The service was attentive and yet not intrusive. The food was delicious and some dishes had a Portuguese influence as we found out the chef is from Portugal. Wonderfully made dishes with excellent taste. Now Essencia is one of our favorites in Budapest.
Kimberly Coniam
Kimberly Coniam: Absolutely lovely. Wonderful restaurant with equally wonderful service. This was my first time at a Michelin star restaurant and it did not disappoint. I got the Hungarian menu and my friend the Portuguese/Hungarian menu, both with the accompanying wines. Every course was lovely and the wine pairings fantastic. My favorite course was the Dödölle” & caviar, and I never thought of myself as a caviar/roe person. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough!
Kiss Zsolt
Kiss Zsolt: Traveling around we found in Hungary this great restaurant from Tiago and Éva. I would have given 5 stars if all the courses where perfect and had a great teste. We had the 6 course meal. I’m total ever Bing had a great aroma and great texture. The desert was not for my taste. I really didn’t like it. That’s why I can’t give a 5 star rating. The rest of the dishes where good. From a rating from 1 to 10 I would have given 8. The service was great. The food was ready in no time. I would recommend talking more about what you are serving and explaining it more in detail. As a conclusion it was a good evening.
Tomás Silva Queiroga
Tomás Silva Queiroga: It is not by mistake it has a Michelin star. I went in a party of 2, and we were well served from start to end, and, although we ordered the 5 course menu, the kitchen gave us 4 extras. The experience and food was totally worth it. Booking in advance is recommended. They really accommodate food allergies and (health) intolerances. Everyone speaks good English there too. I recommend it.
Response: Dear Tomás, Thank you so much for sharing so many details about your experience at Essencia. We are happy to read that you have enjoyed your time at our restaurant. This is what we are working for, to make our guests happy and create great memories they can take home with them. Hope to welcome you back soon! Kind regards, Essência Restaurant - Tiago & Éva
Shay Shapira
Shay Shapira: In the past year I’ve traveled around the world and ate in some of the best Michelin star restaurants in the world, looking for the best culinary experience. Yesterday was extraordinary! From the design of the restaurant to the kindness of the staff. I can proudly say that this was one of the BEST meals I’ve had- the closest to perfection. I would recommend this restaurant not only to those who are already in Budapest, I believe you should come to Budapest especially for this restaurant! Thank you with all my heart to the amazing staff of 3.12.21 night- you really made my trip. Promise to come again soon- hopefully for the second and the third Michelin stars.
ricky chuang
ricky chuang: It deserves a Michelin star. Because of the late reservation, there was only one available time during Christmas week unfortunately. Surprisingly, even the lunch menu catches my appetite. I’m glad that it’s my first meal after arriving Budapest. Highly recommended! It will be a once in a lifetime experience.
PhanTam Phan
PhanTam Phan: We had lunch here few weeks ago. It was nice atmosphere and cozy. Staffs are professional and polite. We chose 3 courses menu. The starters were amazing, absolutely tasty. Main courses were very good too. Overall, it was nice experience. We will come back
Megan Nicholson
Megan Nicholson: The best food experience of my life. My lovely fiancé gifted me a meal here for my birthday and our 5th anniversary. It was beyond believable. The food was amazing and the service was absolutely brilliant, every dish and wine being described in detail. I love how I got a birthday cake too. The 6 course menu is heavenly. Thank you so much, it made our holiday.
Response: Dear Megan, We are delighted to read your kind words, and thanks to your fiancé for choosing Essência as a venue for your celebrations! We are always aiming to deliver an memorable experience. We look forward welcoming you at Essência again soon! Kind regards, Tiago&Éva
Almog Carmeli
Almog Carmeli: Wow! We had ‏such a good time There. ‏first of all the service was amazing, and really kind. The Food was sooooo good!! Out of this world. The atmosphere was great and even the Chef served us the dessert. This was our first michlen dinning, and it was amazing.
Response: Dear Almog, Thank you for choosing Essência for your first Michelin experience. We are so happy to read that you had a great time and enjoyed the flavours as well. This is all that we are aiming for: the satisfaction of guests. We hope to host you again soon! Kind regards: Tiago&Éva, Essência Restaurant

Paprika Vendéglő: what do users think?
Elizabeth Balint
Elizabeth Balint: This place is nicely decorated with outdoor or indoor seating option. Excellent food and service, very helpful staff. Huge portions and reasonable prices. It is located next to the City Park so lots of tourists and locals visiting here. Without reservation expect some waiting time especially during the typical eating times. I am glad we came here and I will be back with many more international guests!
Bradley P
Bradley P: This is definitely the most authentic place to eat in Budapest! What an amazing dining experience! The restaurant had to turn away a lot of people because they were so packed. I’m glad we made a reservation. We started our meal off with the goulash soup. It was the best we’ve had in Hungary! For our meals I ordered the goose leg and liver, which came with potato dumplings and cabbage. My wife ordered the veal with egg and bacon dumplings. Both were extremely tasty and original. Highly recommend!
Allison Li
Allison Li: The waiter was really kind and attentive. Food was amazing too! Very authentic Hungarian food. Call to reserve before you come would help u skip the long waiting. Must have the goose liver and steamed apples.
Maria Romanov
Maria Romanov: Amazing service we came just before the kitchen closed and they still gave us food and we’re so lovely to us. The food was so amazing and seasoned to perfection. Honestly will come here again because it’s cheap and the portion sizes are huge.
Steve Christian
Steve Christian: We arrived in the early afternoon without a reservation and only had to wait a few minutes. The hospitality and the food were beyond perfect. The menu is extensive but is in several languages. Be aware that if you would like to dine in the evening you will probably need reservations.
Aleksandr Ankudinov
Aleksandr Ankudinov: The place is definitely not that good—doesn’t worth waiting & booking in advance. Shrimp pasta was plain awful—couldn’t eat half of it. Pork with potatoes was good. The quality of food is lower than in many places I’ve randomly visited in Budapest over the years. Waiting service was very quick. I would also add the interior as an advantage of this place. Finally, the prices are very moderate. Finally having visited it, I cannot understand why the place has such a high rating. There are many places with higher food quality & authenticity.
Pamela Bournigal
Pamela Bournigal: It is a must go when I go to Budapest! Been there like 5 times and I keep going. It’s a place where you can eat at a good price and A LOT and can try whatever Hungarian food you want. Just know that although you’ll find vegetarian options, the Hungarian food is with a lot of meat, so for meat lovers, you’ll enjoy it a lot
