They communicated so well leading up to the appointment which was great! I was there for 7-8 hours and was able to see other artists work and all of them were great. I 100% recommend this tattoo parlour and I plan to be back!!

Alice Bloor: Spoke to the artist via email before visiting and specified a size for the tattoo, I did not receive any design before going which was a little odd. Go in for the appointment, am left waiting for 15 minutes without being told what was going on. The Artist comes over and shows me designs double the size of what i wanted, I asked if they could be smaller and she said no. I told them I’m just going to leave it then, and offered to pay a fee but they declined. The artist was very rude and not helpful. The receptionist however was the opposite. If you’re not fussed about whether your tattoo is exactly what you asked for then go here. I came to Budapest partly to visit this place but I’m sorely disappointed by the experience.

Winston Smith: I went to the store prior to making an appointment. I was greeted by some really friendly people and met Gregory, who would do my tattoo. Having met the staff, I decided to go ahead and made an appointment. Again, everyone I met was super friendly and really put me at ease. We had a lengthy chat about my ideas and I received some really useful input..I didn’t feel rushed at all. The actual tattooing experience was excellent, Gregory was thoroughly professional throughout and I am absolutely delighted with the end result. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Dark Art Tattoo.

Alexandra Broun: Got my first tattoo done there this summer while on vacation in Budapest and I am so glad that I chose this place instead of anything else back home. Gregory did my tattoo and he was very clean, professional, friendly and made me feel very comfortable. He helped me pick the placement and sizing of my tattoo and listened to what I wanted and gave me helpful tips as well. The rest of the staff were also very good and I loved the overall vibe of the place. Definitely would come back if I ever happened to be in Budapest!

My roommate, mom, and I were visiting Budapest this summer and all wanted a tattoo. Emailing the shop to set up all 3 appointments, times, and design wishes was so easy and painless. Gianni S: We went to Budapest for a little trip and came up with the idea of getting tattooed there. We found this studio that was near our hotel and decided to ask if it was possible to get a tattoo before we left three days later. Everyone there was very welcoming and kind, they all spoke perfect English and tried to help us in any way they could. At the end it was Réka (Rekartatt) that gave us availability for a couple of days later. We showed her pictures of what we had in mind and she worked on our ideas and gave us an even better result that the one we imagined. We wanted something really simple (a black cat and a moon with some dripping). She used her ability to add some shading and dotwork (which I think is her specialty) to make it more detailed and special. She has a really light hand and neither me nor my girlfriend felt a thing while we were being tattooed. She was very kind in giving us all the after care info that we needed and told us we could DM her anytime if we had any questions. We leave Budapest with much love for this city and a tattoo that will forever remind us of this beautiful trip. So many thanks to Réka for making this possible! Service: Tattoos

Karan Afshar Maleki: Disorganised business. They do not have a phone contact, only email. I sent an email request 2-3 weeks in advance of coming to Budapest, but no one ever answered. When I went to their shop in person, they told me to re-send the email and they would get back to me. I did so and again did not receive any answer. When I went back to the store, they said they are fully booked and cannot help me. Disappointed having wasted my time on them with little time to find a new place.

Erin Booth (Tips for VA's!): Got my first tattoo with Gyorgy Foris (a truly gifted artist) shortly after he gave my wife a gorgeous calligraphy-style tattoo. Since it was my first, I was super nervous but he was patient with me. I knew I was in good hands and during the actual tattoo, his calm presence helped keep me at ease. I LOVE the piece he gave me and am forever grateful for this shop. Cash only, everyone speaks English!

Helia Shah: I got an awful septum piercing there. It was too high and too thick I could not breathe. They did not tell me they only had one ring option, very unprofessional piercer... so much that my nose was swollen, painful and itchy and they only accepted cash, even charged more than what their website said. Luckily i took the piercing off in another shop and pierced my septum again, I could finally breathe. Do not go there.

Lucy Peaty: Myself and two of my friends walked into get a piercing each. The staff were really friendly despite the fact that some of the group were a little unsure to begin with. The staff even spoke good English which was comforting and made my friends feel less nervous. When we got the piercing placement, the lady reassured us and reminded us that wanting to change the place of the piercing was okay because it was our body! The studio itself appeared really clean and the equipment sterile. The piercings were done quickly and cleanly. I’ve had several other piercings in comparison the standard was very good! 100% would recommend, glad we visited.

Alan Fordham: My partner and I had a tattoo here in August, looked ok at the time but after it settled down the lines were not straight and coverage not great/consistent. Came back to Budapest (from the UK) for a week in October and gave a weeks notice asking for a touch-up appointment but was told (after chasing for a response) that nothing available until December. It only needed a very short appointment and considering they also have a walk in clinic I think they could have helped more. Feel pretty let down

A R: Lovely artist (Zsuzsa), I walked in spontaneously on a Saturday and was very lucky that she happened to have time for me. Cozy atmosphere, decent prices, everything very clean and my small origami fox turned out beautiful and exactly the way I wanted it to be. Will sure come back!

I am a scottish man, and i understand i am quite hard to understand, but i arrived on the off chance of a walk in, and i was in and out in an hour. Both artists were fab, and they took my design and perfected it. Very happy with the outcome, so much so, i would come back to budapest to specifically get a tattoo there. So professional. If there were a way to give 6 stars i would. Highly recomend it

duygu buyrukcu: Had a very bad client mis-information and bad service and scamming experience that I couldn’t understand the logic yet. I went to buy 3 new piercings to change the existing ones. However since I am allergic, that day I had wounds and seller guy told me that I should not change them that day and he was nice, even told me about medication I can use. Despite the price was higher than what I had seen elsewehere, due to nice attitude I bought them. After my wounds healed, I went back and there was a woman seller this time and she told me, she will charge me to put the piercings on. If there was a charge to put them on, why was I not informed while selling them? Btw here the important thing is not how much she attempted to charge me but the fact that this is called scamming and I will not accept this. Noone should. I was so shocked by additional charge ask and I repeatedly tried to explain the situation that I was not informed about a charge and that this will be the first time they will be putting on these piercings. And she kept saying she understands the balls on the piercings came off and that has to be charged. I think she kept misunderstanding the situation the way she liked.

Cyesha Goree: Very nice a friendly place. Walked in and showed my tattoo idea and got a tattoo right away. They have great artist who are usually available and if not at that exact moment definitely later that day. Prices are very good they charge by the cm. I liked my first tattoo so much I scheduled an appointment to come back to next day and get another one. If you are a tourist in town and want to get a spontaneous tattoo this is definitely the place to visit.

charlotte wilkins: Good price, but doesn’t feel very friendly and comfortable. I came in and it smelled of cigarettes and pizza. The person at the entrance was nice but the person who pierced me was not welcoming, didn’t let me know what he was doing, not letting me know when he would pierce me. No explanations on the after care of the piercing… When I would talk to ask questions he would make it feel awkward and answering by « yes » or « no » only. The place has a strange feeling but maybe I went on the wrong day I don’t know. I think you can find a lot better in Budapest though!
Response: Hello! We apologize for the inconvenience. Our piercer barely speaks English so that could casue the communicational issue. We don't smoke cigarettes inside, we just got back from smoking and the pizza just arrived so maybe that's why you smelled it. Hope you are satisfied with our service and hope you are doing well!
D: The most amazing tattoo experience one can possibly have. Such loving artists with incredible levels of skill on multiple fronts. I had 0 preparation and wasted alot of their time due to being hungover yet they still helped me from start to finish for an incredibly cheap price. Honest loving people that deserve every penny they get. 10/10 best tattoo shop in the world. If you are in budapest, you have to stop by for a tattoo or even just a chat.
