Babel Budapest: what do users think?
Thomas
Thomas: Very lucky to score a reservation at this Michelin starred establishment. Located near The river in downtown Budapest. An amazing wine paired dinner from start to finish. Strong attention to detail with a casual dining feel in an intimate setting. I would have to say that the the signature dish is remarkable - casino egg with caviar - the layering of flavor with the saltiness of the caviar is a delicate balance of flavors with that extra "pop" that i enjoy on my food. Well worth the trip and hopefully they get their second star soon. Thank you for taking the time with our "loud" crew!
M
M: Service, ambiance, food presentation are great. The menu had 12 courses, looks cute. Wine paring was all white, they are nice wines but too narrow in taste. The same type of wineglass from aperitif to sweet. Some details may need to improve : the bathroom maintenance ( the hand towels were thrown on the floor, the cleaning room was open could see the mop), consistency ( my dessert had no deco but my friend did in the previous day). 3.5 / Overall was nice meal. Happy to see them reopen.
Response: Dear M, Thank you for your feedback! We are sorry that the wine pairing wasn’t to your liking. Babel is known for their only white wine pairing and some find it interesting and exeptional. About the dessert decoration; we always improve our courses as we go. If we find something is not working as great in the long run we change ingredients or in this case the deco on the cake. Your friend must have been at our restaurant right at the re-opening, as we changed the deco really soon. We promise we just improve our dishes if we change something. Our menu is about to change again soon. So hopefully we can welcome you again and make your dining experience amazing. Kind regards, Babel team
Vladimir Dzalbo
Vladimir Dzalbo: A great dinner. At first you might think that the dishes are small and not too ma u, yet you would depart feeling well fed :) The whole experience is not as long as many other Michelin restaurants I’ve been. And could fit in a normal length dinner. Super tasty. Courteous staff and very pleasant atmosphere
Michelle Muller
Michelle Muller: What a truly special restaurant! Wonderful and welcoming staff, exceptional presentation and hospitality, delicious wines and show stopping food. Do not miss this restaurant when in Budapest. Also really appreciated the intentional wine pairing with mostly Hungarian wines (wonderful). Highly recommend this restaurant!
Response: Dear Michelle, Thank you so much for your kind words and positive feedback! We hope to welcome you again in the future! We wish you all the best! Kind regards, Babel team
Shane Dunne
Shane Dunne: Fine dining in the heart of Budapest 14 course tasting menu The food was exceptional I personally wouldn’t recommend the wine pairing as it was all whites. (They were delicious I just wanted a better variation) Food 10/10 Service 10/10 Location 10/10 Setting 10/10 Wine 8/10 Price 6/10
Response: Dear Shane, Thank you very much for your positive review! Yes we know the all whites is not for everyone, but that is something really original about Babel. Who knows, it might change in the future. We recommend you maybe the juice pairing for next time, that we made available last week for our 14 course dining experience. And from April 1st we have a shorter menu for a lower price, called Early Dinner on fridays and saturdays. Reservation for that is available from 17:30-18:00. Hope to see you again! Kind regards, Babel team
Markus Schmidt
Markus Schmidt: Glad I tried it but not convinced I would recommend or come back. Interesting food journey but underwhelming in the way laid out. They sell as 10 course menu but count everything into that, even the amuse bouche and bread. Compared to other Michelin star places in town, too expensive and still way to go. Also service was a little odd. Way too many people and unclear who was in the lead and as such not organised. Had to wait ages to get bill and then no one was helping us with our jackets while 4 people where standing by their staging counter.
Marina Lapaeva
Marina Lapaeva: An absolute must-visit in Budapest if you are here for the food! 😋 Every course in the menu is a masterpiece. Bravo!

Borkonyha Winekitchen: what do users think?
A J
A J: The worst Michelin star restaurant I’ve ever visited. From start to finish, the experience left much to be desired. From leaving us standing at the door for 5 mins before being acknowledged, not finding our booking despite having called 1h prior to check our details and ask if we could come later, to not being shown our coats upon exit. We told the waiter we don’t want wine today, and yet they asked another 3 times. No means no, I don’t appreciate being pressured to buy a bottle of wine when we just don’t feel like drinking. We kept having different waiters, not one remembered who ordered what so kept asking what everyone ordered, both drinks and meals. The waiter carried 3 plates on one hand which caused the starters to slip and slide all over the place. I moved it back in the middle for photos but that’s not how it left the kitchen and ruins the chef’s hard work that went into plating. For a normal restaurant this service would have been fine, good even, but for a Michelin starred restaurant, I am disappointed. Also, when explaining the courses the waiters seemed to quickly name the ingredients and then go, when I asked for clarification as they spoke too quickly he just walked off pretending not to hear us. I think they don’t know how it is made and although I appreciate there’s a language barrier, there’s also a lack of passion in the staff. I enjoyed the bread the most, the squid ink bread was fantastic and I must say the starter was delicious! Needless to say, I won’t be returning on my next visit to Budapest.
Daniel Lo
Daniel Lo: We probably received the best service we had in Budapest. The food was also exceptional (but beware the portions are big in my opinion). We ordered the pasta for starter, a celery soup, and ribs for main. The highlight for me was the pasta - so rich and delicious. The wine pairing was also exceptional. Would definitely recommend if you’re in town!
Ronaldo Baumgarten Neto
Ronaldo Baumgarten Neto: Five star experience in the heart of Budapest! As a food and wine lover, this place was like heaven to me. Staff was really nice, and took time to explain me more about Hungarian wines, food was also delicious, deserved Michelin star!
Makowa_BEC
Makowa_BEC: Staff very nice and experienced. We were treated like VIP. Food very good. Lots of different and unique tastes. Only 4 stars because waiter offered hungarian sparkling wine to start for what we had to pay but it looks like it was free.
Mona Lisa Manshad
Mona Lisa Manshad: Absolutely the best food experience I have ever had. My friend is a picky eater and a vegetarian and they tailored the degustation menu to fit her needs and it was 10/10, the wines were out of this world (all Hungarian) and the waiters were really sweet and took their time explaining both the food and the wine. I’m coming back to this restaurant that’s for sure! Also, I’m not a dessert person at all, but the dessert had me leave the place in love with life and everything in it.
Sheilla Olivia Atto
Sheilla Olivia Atto: The food from this Michelin star restaurant was absolutely amazing! Delicious! The service, top notch ! 👌They give a free welcome delicious starter and as well dessert. Was so amazing !
Magnus Swärd
Magnus Swärd: The food was great. My favorites are the duck liver and the chocolate dessert.BUT they need to do something about the acoustics in the restaurant. Everyone was shouting to one another, I couldn’t hear a thing what the server was saying even though he was shouting.
viviane chen
viviane chen: We had dinner before Xmas eve. ( 23/dec/2022). The restaurant is bar style design. Cozy , warm but not Luxury. We choice dish from à la carts . Ingredients excellent. My son ordered 24 h well slow cooking Angus beef . The meat was melt in the mouth’ delicious. We ordered Sturgeon fish with civair company with with wild broccoli and some Citrons herbs . Perfect balance. Starter was Duck liver,3 different ways present with walnut, pear. Different Taste Bud Stimulation. The only imperfection is that the vessels of the grilled foie gras are not removed ,not very pleasant in the mouth. Otherwise the test was delicious. In general, food was great, service also friendly. More Casual style then formal classic Michelin restaurant. Suitable to go with family with young kids and friend. Small suggestions: Hungarian food is generally salty, even in Gastronomic restaurants also quite salty. If you eat light taste, batter to inform them when you are ordering.

Salt: what do users think?
M
M: Chic vibe and superb service, thanks for the bilingual explanations. Food was delicate. Wine pairing picked from funky wineries around the whole of Hungary. Enjoyed the generous wine flight, but didn’t feel the chemistry between wine and food. Overall was cute experience., looking forward to the new menu :)
George Koiliaris
George Koiliaris: The restaurant is located in the same building with a boutique hotel in a quiet street. The atmosphere is cozy and at the same time well decorated. There isn’t a particular dress code. The staff was really helpful and especially our waitress was perfectly capable in explaining every dish in English. The same goes for the sommelier. Excellent service. The menu is a well kept secret. I couldn’t find it online and I will keep it that way myself. The dishes were not something impressing flavor wise. Sure, the majority of them tasted good but not 160 euros/person good! However the presentation and the technic was superb. The 160 euros were for 15 course dinner and Hungarian wine pairing. Best plates: onion soup, porcheta, gin & tonic chef’s treat and all the desserts. Flat plates: the paprika soup, pumpkin soup.
Charles R
Charles R: Wow. We loved the special care and touch from the entire wait staff and the talent from the chef. We all had the 15c meal with Hungarian wine pairing. Deserving of its Michelin Star!
Dimitri Georgiou
Dimitri Georgiou: It was a particularly pleasant experience to dine at Salt restaurant. The menu that is based on local recipes/traditions and local products in combination with the fact that quickly gained distinctions such as a michelin star, triggered our curiosity and decided to visit it. We chose not to open the menu and thus focus on the narrative and dramaturgy of the tasting. Through the dishes, we time-travelled to an everchanging Hungary and the memories of the chef and his team. All 15 dishes had successive depth, while it is impressive that the chef himself and the co-founder of the restaurant are part of the experience and serve themselves, altogether making you feel both special and like home.
Mark Sheeleigh
Mark Sheeleigh: We had the 15 course set menu with Hungarian wine pairing. It was a very well done meal. The food was both creative and interesting. The service was kind and joyful. The atmosphere was warm and enjoyable. We enjoyed every moment. Highly recommend.
Razvan Antonescu
Razvan Antonescu: An excellent tasting menu experience. Also, the non-alcoholic juice pairing experience is something worth trying!
Nikolett Pankovits
Nikolett Pankovits: Incredible food, well organized team. Thank you for the experience! For sure we will be back!I also appreciated the non-alcoholic option for drink tasting.

Essência Restaurant - Tiago & Éva: what do users think?
w ss
w ss: A beautiful restaurant in the center of Budapest. We just loved the decor and the ambiance. As for the food and service, both excellent. The service was attentive and yet not intrusive. The food was delicious and some dishes had a Portuguese influence as we found out the chef is from Portugal. Wonderfully made dishes with excellent taste. Now Essencia is one of our favorites in Budapest.
Kimberly Coniam
Kimberly Coniam: Absolutely lovely. Wonderful restaurant with equally wonderful service. This was my first time at a Michelin star restaurant and it did not disappoint. I got the Hungarian menu and my friend the Portuguese/Hungarian menu, both with the accompanying wines. Every course was lovely and the wine pairings fantastic. My favorite course was the Dödölle” & caviar, and I never thought of myself as a caviar/roe person. I cannot recommend this restaurant enough!
Kiss Zsolt
Kiss Zsolt: Traveling around we found in Hungary this great restaurant from Tiago and Éva. I would have given 5 stars if all the courses where perfect and had a great teste. We had the 6 course meal. I’m total ever Bing had a great aroma and great texture. The desert was not for my taste. I really didn’t like it. That’s why I can’t give a 5 star rating. The rest of the dishes where good. From a rating from 1 to 10 I would have given 8. The service was great. The food was ready in no time. I would recommend talking more about what you are serving and explaining it more in detail. As a conclusion it was a good evening.
Tomás Silva Queiroga
Tomás Silva Queiroga: It is not by mistake it has a Michelin star. I went in a party of 2, and we were well served from start to end, and, although we ordered the 5 course menu, the kitchen gave us 4 extras. The experience and food was totally worth it. Booking in advance is recommended. They really accommodate food allergies and (health) intolerances. Everyone speaks good English there too. I recommend it.
Response: Dear Tomás, Thank you so much for sharing so many details about your experience at Essencia. We are happy to read that you have enjoyed your time at our restaurant. This is what we are working for, to make our guests happy and create great memories they can take home with them. Hope to welcome you back soon! Kind regards, Essência Restaurant - Tiago & Éva
Shay Shapira
Shay Shapira: In the past year I’ve traveled around the world and ate in some of the best Michelin star restaurants in the world, looking for the best culinary experience. Yesterday was extraordinary! From the design of the restaurant to the kindness of the staff. I can proudly say that this was one of the BEST meals I’ve had- the closest to perfection. I would recommend this restaurant not only to those who are already in Budapest, I believe you should come to Budapest especially for this restaurant! Thank you with all my heart to the amazing staff of 3.12.21 night- you really made my trip. Promise to come again soon- hopefully for the second and the third Michelin stars.
ricky chuang
ricky chuang: It deserves a Michelin star. Because of the late reservation, there was only one available time during Christmas week unfortunately. Surprisingly, even the lunch menu catches my appetite. I’m glad that it’s my first meal after arriving Budapest. Highly recommended! It will be a once in a lifetime experience.
PhanTam Phan
PhanTam Phan: We had lunch here few weeks ago. It was nice atmosphere and cozy. Staffs are professional and polite. We chose 3 courses menu. The starters were amazing, absolutely tasty. Main courses were very good too. Overall, it was nice experience. We will come back
Megan Nicholson
Megan Nicholson: The best food experience of my life. My lovely fiancé gifted me a meal here for my birthday and our 5th anniversary. It was beyond believable. The food was amazing and the service was absolutely brilliant, every dish and wine being described in detail. I love how I got a birthday cake too. The 6 course menu is heavenly. Thank you so much, it made our holiday.
Response: Dear Megan, We are delighted to read your kind words, and thanks to your fiancé for choosing Essência as a venue for your celebrations! We are always aiming to deliver an memorable experience. We look forward welcoming you at Essência again soon! Kind regards, Tiago&Éva
Almog Carmeli
Almog Carmeli: Wow! We had ‏such a good time There. ‏first of all the service was amazing, and really kind. The Food was sooooo good!! Out of this world. The atmosphere was great and even the Chef served us the dessert. This was our first michlen dinning, and it was amazing.
Response: Dear Almog, Thank you for choosing Essência for your first Michelin experience. We are so happy to read that you had a great time and enjoyed the flavours as well. This is all that we are aiming for: the satisfaction of guests. We hope to host you again soon! Kind regards: Tiago&Éva, Essência Restaurant

Costes Downtown: what do users think?
Chloe H
Chloe H: We booked this dinner for an anniversary dinner. We love trying Michelin restaurants in the places we travel. I was so excited as they also had a cocktail pairing which is something I have not seen and given I am allergic to wine this set the night up to be special. The food was nice and there were some good dishes - although they were small they lived up to the star. Where it wasn’t such a great experience was the service which was chaotic with very limited explanations and the timing of the dishes. Some would arrive just as you were finishing one dish or some you would be waiting for 20 minutes. The cocktail pairing also was not overly explained and didn’t come out with particular dishes. Out of the 6 3 of them basically were the same cocktail if you can call it that. We appreciate we went on the f1 weekend but to be sitting next to a table of 6 that took over the restaurant, were super loud and assume were famous by how much attention the staff were giving them including the chef it would have been nice if they were either told to keep the noise down or offered a private room to dine in. Personally it was not a favoured dinner and I wouldn’t recommend it. It was expensive and just the experience overall was not worth it.
Response: Dear Chloe! It was a pleasure to welcome you on such a special occasion as your anniversary! We are pleased to read that you felt our dishes were worthy of the Michelin star. As you noted out, you happened to dine at Costes Downtown during one of the busiest weekends of the season, so we apologize for any inconveniences you encountered. Also, thank you for your feedback on the service, and we wish you'd informed our staff immediately that you find your neighbors to be disruptive so that we could've addressed the issue. We hope you had a lovely overall experience in Budapest! Kind regards, The Costes Downtown Team
Briyah Paley
Briyah Paley: Overly expensive, poor service, a server who didn’t know a word of English, long wait between courses and bad communication. The food is good, but not Michelin worthy. I was disappointed that they didn’t remember it was my dads 70th birthday. They really could have done more for price we paid. Go elsewhere. Not worth it. Especially for a vegetarian. The pork cream didn’t taste good. The lobster was a tiny piece. I can see why this place isn’t as busy as the other high end places in town. One course is just bread and butter. It’s good but I mean…really?
S S
S S: Basically did the rounds of 5* over 5 nights. This is price tag worthy. Calculated execution - shame you can’t go back twice as I suspect little menu variation, but in these times, whatever you have to do to deliver palate perfection. Courses delicate & smart, unconventional cocktail pairing genius. Would have preferred on reflection to experience dinner with more courses in preference to lunch. Some dishes weren’t entirely box tickers, but the chocolate dessert was Michelin 2*, the petit four joy on a plate - bravo chef.
Response: Dear Sam! Thank you for your kind words! Our guests' satisfaction is the greatest joy to us. :)
Air_424
Air_424: The food is great as I remember from the first time I’ve been here in 2017, so props to that, everything’s was perfect from the plating to the combinations of the ingredients. The services was subpar except the woman sommelier, she was very funny and all the 8 bottles of wine that she recommended were a pretty good match with the dishes, but the real negative part was the chubby lady in suits, very rude and no smile at all, which is the least thing you can do in the restaurant industries. The atmosphere is pretty much dated, nothing has changed in the past five years so you can notice it as soon as you enter the restaurant that a lot of thing didn’t aged good. Recommended for the food and the expertise of the sommelier, but nothing else.
Piera Zuccarini
Piera Zuccarini: I would like give 3 stars, however the service was so mediocre that I can’t do more than that. Also, the food is really not that memorable for 1 star Michelin. The main dessert was the biggest disappointment. The Lemon Sorbet was really good tho. Less than a month I have been there and can’t remember anything else that was special. Cocktails very average. Because of their mistakes (not waiting for all the table to be present when bringing the course, not refilling water, very rushed service, table basically in the middle of the passage and 25 minutes wait to bring the bill) they have offered the cocktails. I didn’t think that was enough and I have asked to remove the service charge (which is added on the bill directly) because they honestly didn’t deserve it. We have done multiple starred restaurants in the same week, this one shouldn’t have a star at all.
נאור אלוש
נאור אלוש: A sensational experience. There is no other definition. A tasting meal of 14 dishes, (small and miniature but miraculously very satisfying) each one in its way takes you on a roller coaster of flavors from different styles and there is no doubt that the amazing meal justifies the Michelin star that the restaurant holds. The wait staff is friendly and welcoming, but precisely because of this and because of the high standard that the restaurant sets, the fact that we did not receive the last dish (4 small potiphors) because the waiter who was in charge of our table was busy having a long conversation with another table and did not notice that the dish was waiting to be served. Only after we paid and were about to leave, we realize that the dish was forgotten on the side. Definitely a gross mistake from a restaurant that holds a Michelin star and adheres to the highest level of service. The meal is not cheap (160,000 forints) but still worth every forint paid for it. It was stunning, delicious and exciting!
Walk with Jonas
Walk with Jonas: Only came for cocktails. Small cocktails with a high price tag. Small choice. Some good (sweet Caribbean) some not so tasty (Manhattan) but: all with a good amount of alcohol! Did not try the Michelin star restaurant, as it was way beyond my salary 😆
Andy Rhodes
Andy Rhodes: Had the most amazing dining experience, and service from the whole team here. We arrived really early and we’re going to have a few drinks before lunch, however the staff asked the kitchen who were happy to serve us early. The degustation with wine pairing was one of the best meals we’ve had. Our first time trying Hungarian wine and we weren’t disappointed. Very well explained by the team. Do yourself a favour and book in here for a very relaxed, but amazing lunch or dinner. Whoever was working lunch on Friday - you are superstars, thank you :)
Lars Vergote
Lars Vergote: We had an amazing time here.Wonderful location, the staff was outstanding and sublime food.Would recommend!

Onyx: what do users think?
Rie Pedersen
Rie Pedersen: The best restaurant experience I’ve ever had. No doubt. Everything was sublime; the service from the passionate staff, the courses both in regard to taste, presentation, and new ideas. We would definitely visit Budapest again with the sole purpose of eating at Onyx.
Natalie Chun
Natalie Chun: Truly a unique experience as the restaurant is undergoing a transition. It comes perhaps slightly at the cost of execution in food quality, but overall the atmosphere and interactivity that was created during the dinner was a nice change.
מאיר צור
מאיר צור: Great culinary experience when traveling to Budapest, good VFM. Plus: Good service Great wine/drinks pairings Tasty food especially the wagyu and the yellow butter they make which was divine Good interaction with guests and staff Minus: They charge for Water, i think that it should be complimentary for this dinner concept Not enough meat or poultry in the dinner in my opinion
Diane
Diane: I had a really bad experience here. The food is really not tasty, the flavor combinations are strange and not on point. The texture is rubbery weirdly some how. I didn’t order wine pairing and the service are deducted because of it.It doesn’t deserve any credit it has. I won’t come back again.
nika salia
nika salia: I have attended the food testing event on 20th of November, it was presentation of only one dish from the future potential menu consisting of six dishes. The team is extremely visionary, positive, passionate, professional, thoughtful and friendly. All of the m are young and energetic with lots of bright ideas. Thank you!

Tina Boss Dideriksen
Tina Boss Dideriksen: Such an amazing experience! We felt us involved and in the atmosphere. Top professional chefs and very friendly. The food is really amazing and thought out each details! Wow! We are deaf, so they had prepared a text tough the whole menu and experience. And they explained extra in text at the phone which ingredients in drink and how we have to go tough the dishes. My best recommendation! A experience we never will forget.
Lasse Jakobsen
Lasse Jakobsen: Quite an experience. But more show than food. You can get better food for same price elsewhere.
Response: Dear Lasse, Thanks for the great review, but sorry you didn't feel completely satisfied! Nonetheless, we hope to welcome you back at Műhely. Best regards, ONYX Creative Community

Jason K
Jason K: Absolutely fantastic dinner experience! The restaurant is finished off beautifully. We went with the 5 course tasting menu. The dishes were all presented exquisitely and creative. The potato leek, the sturgeon fish, beef and the rest were divine. It was an memorable experience and I hope to be back soon! Thank you
Linh Phan
Linh Phan: A very wonderful dining experience! Each meal was artfully and wonderfully prepared. Everything was delicious, extraordinary meals with choices for meat, fish, and vegetarians until dessert. Amazing recipes are both new and imaginative. The course was mouthwateringly good. Definitely come back in the future!
w ss
w ss: Loved every dish! Wonderful restaurant in center of Budapest. Very nice decor and ambiance and excellent service. As for the food... probably one of the best in Bp for fine dining. We now consider this as one of our favorite.
Anton Guldborg
Anton Guldborg: We had an amazing night at Textura! The waiter was the best I ever had. Very knowledgeable, funny, patient and great at explaining the wine to us despite our lack of knowledge. He explained about the different bottles of wine and let us have a taste of the one we chose to make sure We enjoyed the atmosphere which was fine dining but without the white cloth Would have liked water to be free at this price point
Dave Lam
Dave Lam: Honestly if you think it’s a Michelin restaurant standard, not quite. And food taste were a bit salty, not sure if that’s problem of hungry food or not. The duck beast is very good, same for the dessert. Other than that, the rest are acceptable but not as good as the duck beast. I tried the A La Carte menu inside of set. The red wine taste good, but is 5000ft per glass.
thomas braden
thomas braden: We actually tried to go to their other restaurant, Borkonyha, but they were full and the manager directed us to this, their sister restaurant just across the street. The food was lovely - prepared to perfection and served with absolute care. I tried the ravioli stuffed with tongue as an appetizer, followed by the mushroom compote. My wife had the red pepper soup (THE best of the dishes we tried!). For main dishes my wife had the pork loin, my son the beef sirloin and myself the cod with asparagus! The hollandaise sauce was more of a foam than heavy sauce and was perhaps the best that I have ever tasted! We were too full for dessert, but look forward to returning so we can sample desserts again next time. A wonderful lunch and dining experience!
Dana Bashi
Dana Bashi: Fine dining at it’s best. Very unique menus with meat, fish and vegetarian options. Amazing products and such creative and innovative dishes, with a traditional touch. We enjoyed the lilac soup and truffle starters and then the flank steak and sea brim with risotto for main. Everything was absolutely delicious. Very friendly service, they pace it between the dishes, which is fine.
Jesse Corigliano
Jesse Corigliano: Went for a late lunch (3pm) in September and couldn’t believe the place was empty considering the reputation of the place! Awesome food, fantastic service and great selection of local wines. Well and truly worth the price.

Samantha Carson
Samantha Carson: Truly one of the best dining experiences I have ever had. Our waitress was absolutely incredible. She had incredible recommendations on drinks and food. Everything was perfect. It was our last meal out in Budapest and we are so happy with this choice. We were also celebrating our engagement!
Dudi Sterling
Dudi Sterling: Michelin 🏆 2022. Well deserved. Everything in the meal was incredible and very organized. Starting with the warm welcome when we went in, until we left. The waitress was very nice and polite and really helped us to choose the best dishes that fit our taste and desires. The meal itself was delicious and amazing 😋
Marinos Theodosiou
Marinos Theodosiou: Spago is an exquisite place, located in the centre of Budapest with outstanding quality of food and service. When we have visited, I was transfixed by the classic architecture at the entrance area and then by buzzling open kitchen of the restaurant. Modern, low-key design, makes you feel comfortable the moment you walk in. The food was beyond perfect. Our group of friends ordered a variety of plates and every single on of us was more than satisfied. The waiters were so friendly and eager at the end for us to try their desserts and they were right! A delicious end note to our wonderful experience.
Mihir Bhagat
Mihir Bhagat: A fine dining experience that is worth multiple visits! Reservations recommended. The high quality food is matched by the service and ambience and it is hard to find fault in either of the three. I was pleased with the suggestions provided by the crew and I would definitely recommend having their signature cocktails - refined flavours but packing a punch!
Nicola Sadori
Nicola Sadori: Spago is inside a 5stars hotel. Inside the restaurant is beautiful and the kitchen is open along the corridor. At the end there is a big window where you can see the bridge. The service and staff very professional. The food is at the same level of all the rest, beautiful dishes and very tasty. (1to10) Food: 9 Service: 9 Atmosphere: 9
Raz Vigdorovich
Raz Vigdorovich: The atmosphere at Spago was A amazing, we were greeted by servers and open kitchen employees all the way to our table. The food was no less than AMAZING. The staff was super nice and professional.I would go back again and again and again. 🤩
Mobika Stewart
Mobika Stewart: The ambience is top - also a wonderful music selection. The service is top and courteous. And the food was also excellent, very finely tasted, creative and yet also down to earth. Particularly noteworthy are the desserts. A dream - visually and culnary. Special requests were also catered for. For example, gluten-free food was no problem. Vegetarian options were also available. The Spago in Budapest is definitely a recommendation!

Nobu Restaurant: what do users think?
vu401BT
vu401BT: My recommendation if you do go to this restaurant order from the Nobu classic dishes only. Very pretty restaurant with a pleasent atmosphere. Most of the dishes were ok and below in my opinion. Way below the expected from a Michelin star restaurant (and I ate before in few). The only dish that was good is from the Nobu classic dishes. Does not worth the cost.
Reza Shokouhi
Reza Shokouhi: Had a great dinner,I knew it was gonna be great because I knew about Nobu, its reputation precedes itself, but I went with waiter recommendation because it was the first time and I loved it, the Peruvian duck liver sauce on my tender loin was amazing, the salmon sashimi and bento box was all top. Love Nobu
Amanda WenChi Gáll-Huang
Amanda WenChi Gáll-Huang: Good quality lunch and pleasant environment at Nobu! From the Bento selections, the Classic one includes grilled fish fillet which was very tender, salmon avocado rolls, beef pot stickers, big portion of mayo prawns, fresh baby spinach salad, miso soup and a bowl of rice! A very solid size for lunch for sure! I asked for extra marinated ginger, they brought a very generous portion! Good service!
Response: Thank you for your kind words! We are glad that you are satisfied with us!
Fares Saab
Fares Saab: Really disappointed. Nobu is one of my favorite restaurants but the Budapest version is below Nobu’s average. The staff didn’t know the menu well and the food was average. It’s still good, but when I compare to other cities, it falls behind.
Laura Pio
Laura Pio: The food was tasty, the service was good, the drinks were okay - all in all, a good restaurant and ambience, but not for a Michelin star. I’ve been to many locations and while the servers were kind, they lacked the knowledge and wow of other locations and Michelin stars. What we ate: - the Cod: absolutely delicious. Some bones still in, so pay attention when eating - sushi, nigiri and sashimi platters: great quality - roasted asparagus: one of our favourite things on the menu. Sweet-ish sauce, buttery roasted pecan, deliciously charred asparagus - broccolini: okay. Tasted like simple broccolini - oyster trio: they were good with some different toppings - yellowtail with jalapeño: certainly worth the order - honey truffle baby corn: delicious and not too sweet, but quite oily All in all, a nice restaurant to visit. But if on a shorter trip, other Michelins preferred for Budapest and certainly other Nobu locations globally
Azadeh Hassani
Azadeh Hassani: It’s quality food for sure, if you don’t go in with the expectation of Nobu Malibu. We enjoyed the food and the ambiance. It’s fresh, tasty and well presented.
Richard George
Richard George: Sometimes it‘s worth to treat yourself with a wonderful experience & good tasting food. As usual, Nobu delivers! Absolutel fantastic beef and brilliant sushi!
Chew Pei Yun
Chew Pei Yun: Was really looking forward to dining in Nobu.i had the signature omakase, love the run down of the dishes.Overall experience was good...just a little comment, food might be a little too salty for my taste for fresh seafood.
96morelis
96morelis: I went here once but i liked it a lot. Especially i liked oyster shot it was magical !! Also very beautiful details in decoration. Maybe a bit pricey but it worth it

Stand Étterem: what do users think?
Markus Schmidt
Markus Schmidt: Best restaurant in town and compared to other Michelin stars underrated. Have been to two and three stars across Europe and don’t understand that here we looking at one star only. Great food, innovative dishes, super friendly and attentive team. Will be back again and again :) whenever I am in Budapest.
Malte Holm
Malte Holm: Having only one night in Budapest, we really had to choose from such a variety of one star Michelin restaurants. We were absolutely thrilled we picked Stand! Service is impeccable from the second you walk in the door and food is out of this world, with the best in local produce and creativity in the servings. Having been to many top restaurants in the world, this one stands out as one of the absolute best. Highly recommended and we’ll surely be back again in the future!
Matan Cohen
Matan Cohen: Stand is freaking OUTSTANDING! If you can, please make yourself a favor and go dine there! We were a couple that came to Budapest for a birthday and found out that there is a Michelin star restaurant 3 minutes walk from our hotel. We’ve found out a unique restaurant with damn spectacular food and an amazing staff! I believe the photos can deliver the experience!
Leslie Heindel
Leslie Heindel: This is a next level meal. From the service, to wine pairings, down to the tiniest of details- Stand didn’t miss a beat. I would 10/10 recommended booking this place. Get in now before people realize how insanely good it is. You’ll never be able to get a reservation again. ❤️
Alex Z
Alex Z: WOW! I am an absolute foodie and have been in many fine dining restaurants across the globe. Stand was an exceptional experience from start to end, and I am sure it is little time till there will be a second Michelin star. A few highlights: 1) Best-in-class staff, very attentive, know menu and ingredients inside-out, put customer needs first, 2) A menu that combines local Hungarian specialities with international/French touch, 3) Decorated to perfection, from amuse-bouche to petite fours, 4) just delicious food with a lot of surprising combinations — a true delight for a foodie. Posting a few picture, but they can unfortunately not capture the taste.

Costes Restaurant: what do users think?
alexander lerner
alexander lerner: Costes knowingly sat us in the back room with improper air conditioning. We were allowed cool breeze is cycles. Right when the room felt manageable it would need to be turned off. Then it would get unbearable quickly. The food that was good, was good. We did a tasting menu. I would steer clear of the mackerel. The desserts were delicious.
Response: Dear Alexander! We appreciate you taking the time to provide us with feedback. We are pleased to hear that you enjoyed our tasting menu, and we apologize for the technical difficulties with the air conditioning. We hope your had a lovely time in Budapest!
Jane XU
Jane XU: One of the most disappointing our Michelin experiences. The food and service are acceptable but far from one star Michelin with the given price. Service: - the hosting started quite hastily, which seemed that the restaurant is going to close soon - the waitress managed to move my plate of bread causing the one piece of bread falling down off the plate m, being left on the table. Quite awkward situation, while no service correspondingly… but frankly speaking the bread was really good! - the service fee is 15%, not appropriately mentioned in the new version of daily menu. - No water filling service perhaps they are quite busy in general… leaving us with the super salty dish Food: - Two main dishes scallop and ham rolls are extremely salty. We didn’t finish even - the quality of chosen food is quite normal, especially scallop, not even above the average - ingredients don’t deserve this price for sure - first time to see repeated ideas of plate layout in the entire menu - the dessert was excellent and innovative In conclusion, you can have much better choices with the cost not even in Budapest but also in other major European cities.
Kris H
Kris H: First of all, service; excellent. Menu was full of refreshing colours and tastes, presentation impeccable. Some dishes were heavenly, on our menu the dessert possibly the best dessert I have had anywhere. Some very few components of the dishes left something to wish for, but as said they were very few and slight. Wine pairings were immaculate, I had only one concern with one wine, which my companion did not have. Ambiance of the restaurant very nice, modern and enjoyable, I enjoyed the front part more to the the back. Definite recommendation.
Valeriia Miasoiedova
Valeriia Miasoiedova: It was an expensive place for Budapest. We paid 105$ per person for a lunch. The restaraunt has a very calm and nice, classy atmosphere but the food could be better. I have much better experience in other Michele restaurants.
Response: Dear Valeriia! Thank you for your review, but we'd like to point out that Costes Restaurant does not now serve lunch, so you may have visited Costes Downtown instead. Regards, the Costes team
Claus Engen
Claus Engen: Tried their tasting menu with wine pairing of local good wines. Good food and all in all a nice experience. Even though the service was a little cold and a little too formal - presentation of food and wine went fast, without calm and without feeling.
Response: Thank you for taking the time to leave us a review; we greatly appreciate it as our guests' feedback serves as a direction for us. We are thrilled to hear that you were pleased with the food and wine pairings! At the same time, we're disappointed to hear you weren't completely satisfied with our service. We appreciate your visit and we hope you've had a great time in Budapest! Kind regards, The Costes Team
ECHIPAMENTE PROTECTIE
ECHIPAMENTE PROTECTIE: Very high class restaurant, very luxury. Of course do not expect to be cheep. If you want a cheap restaurant you can go to the fast food in the mall. Here you pay the services and the luxury atmosphere. It is a restaurant where you can go to feel like an important customer, you are treated like a V.I.P. Thank you
Luis
Luis: One of the best restaurants ever ! This guys need to be recognised with one more Michelin star … the service is excepcional and keen on smalls details … carry on this way and the further success will be come to yours .
Response: Dear Luis! Thank you for your visit and kind words! It fills us with great joy to know that our guests were completely satisfied with their experience at Costes. Regards, The Costes Team
Roberto Davis
Roberto Davis: My fiancée and I booked this restaurant for New Years Eve after reading that COSTES had a special menu/event for the holiday. We were looking for someplace to celebrate as we traditionally travel and visit Michelin Stared Restaurants for New Years Eve. This tragic experience was like one we have never had before. Since the dinner started at 9PM; we expected that if we would be there at 12AM there would be a party to celebrate the New Year. This is what we have previously experienced at such events. The dinner at COSTES was extremely slow, and by the time we hit 12AM we were just finishing the Main Course. The Staff did not even acknowledge that we had entered the New Year, there was no celebration. I had to wish the Sommelier happy new year before she even reciprocated. The staff was annoyed when we asked along with another group to go outside the restaurant for a 5 minute break to watch the fireworks and the restaurant had not planned any celebration for the New Year. We paid over 750USD for this lackluster experience. The food was not even that memorable compared to other starred restaurants, and the service was so slow we left the dinner craving food. Last year I paid much more but the food and party were worth the experience. This year not so much! The waiters were cold; however, they were pleasant if you managed to get them to speak to you. The manager was clearly busy trying to appease a large dinner party celebrating the new year in the restaurant, who like ourselves was upset that there was no party, and the food was slow to arrive. I’m all for a dining experience but the New Years Eve dinner was a dining disaster. In my opinion this restaurant should have its star revoked. The food was good, but by no means worthy of a star. The group in my opinion has too many restaurants to manage quality at this point. All in all, if you want a nice new years eve experience that’s lively and fun, with good food, don’t go to COSTES. TOTAL RIPOFF!

Je suis très fatigué
Je suis très fatigué: What a great night we had! The food was really nice! Absolutely well presented and very tasty and so rich in flavours! We went for the set menu with wine pairing and we loved it! Each plate was so nice to look at and well introduced by the waiter, Adam. Outstanding costumer service, great location and beautiful interiors. Deft recommends it!
Antoine
Antoine: Very good experience. The different courses might look small, but you get full quite quickly with all of the intermediary tastings. With two 5 courses menus, 1 wine pairing and 2 glasses of champagne, the total price was 110,000 forint (~300 eur)
孙强
孙强: very nice restaurant, beyond my expectation. wine glass is Zalto, which is very beautiful and classic. food is fantastic, must try the lamb and pike perch. the wine recommended for the food is also very suitable. will recommend this place to my friends and go.there again

Szabolcs Gyurkan: If you are looking for a restaurant with gourmet cuisine, warm hospitality and great atmosphere this is the restaurant you are looking for. No unnecessary charades of explaining just enough information about the meals, beautiful presentation with perfectly delicious plates. Everything comes with some local inspiration but completely enjoyable for international palate. The service is impeccable but without heaviness. We, family of four ate several different dishes and all of them was flawless. The ambiance is warm, with timeless interior design, you will feel perfectly comfortable. This restaurant is perfect for romantic dinner, business lunch and for those who enjoy gourmet kitchen without attitude.

Laurel Budapest: what do users think?
Diego Alonso
Diego Alonso: Great experience and service. The dishes have an interesting mix of Hungarian, Japanese and Mediterranean cuisine.
Laura B
Laura B: Amazing experience! Ordered the Vegan Menu and it was incredibly delicious. Rebarbara with raspberry and oat was the only course that was a bit weird for me. We will definitely visit again!
Alex B
Alex B: Phenomenal fine dining experience. The waiters are absolute professionals, the sommelier is amazing, the ambience is great, and the chefs are excellent. Such an interesting mix of local ingredients and recipes with international flavours. The sauces in particular are unreal - I never thought I’d be writing a restaurant review talking about how amazing the sauces were, but there you go. Standout dish was the rooster ramen though - easily one of the most flavoursome broths I’ve tasted in my life. If you’re gonna treat yourself in Budapest, do it here.
JOSEF DOBOS
JOSEF DOBOS: Undoubtedly one of the most surprising and subtle dining experiences I have ever experienced. The selection of wines was also first class. Incredibly dedicated and interested staff.
Stefan L
Stefan L: Flawless dinner experience. I was a nightmare guest as I am allergic to fish, shellfish and nuts. (Turns out most dishes on the regular menu contains at least one of those things.) They handled it like champions though and I had a wonderful dinner! The food is excellent, both the meat and vegan dishes. The wine pairing is overall very good and sometimes spectacularly so. Highly recommended.
Lara
Lara: Service was good, but not personal - they were all very distant. We liked that you start upstairs and go downstairs for the menu & the restaurant also looked beautiful, too much light downstairs though. However, the vegan menu was really not that good and the combination didn‘t make a lot of sense to us. They always changed between cold & hot dishes, our main dish was also cold and basically just hummus with a bread. For the main course for that price we really expected more. Especially when you feel how badly this restaurant wants to have the michelin star. Also other dishes were quite confusing to us: poké bowl (also cold) with strawberries in winter? One course was also way too sour, it even burned a little bit on the tongue. The best dishes were the Tempura dish & the onion soup. However, the courses did not fit together, it felt like someone randomly put them together.

Moonlight moments: The right place to have experience a pleasant cuisine, caviar, wine&champagne selection, mood with your family/ friends or beloved ones in Budapest.Friendly and well trained staffs would help you feel it more. Highly recommended.

Herein Andrew
Herein Andrew: It is one of the best restaurants in Budapest. Scenery is beautiful the atmosphere is really cozy you feel like home. The tasting menu is fantastic it’s well planned and would not change anything on it. Would recommend to try the wine paring offer the sommelier is well educated we enjoyed him describing each wine. The whole experience is true art of its kind. The team is awesome kind and thoughtful! I hope soon they get the recognition they deserve!

Response: Dear Simon, Thank you for your sharing your feedback and your kind words. We are glad to read that you enjoyed your time in our restaurant! Look forward to welcoming you again!
Beatrice Wong
Beatrice Wong: Two tasting menus, one fish, one red meat dominant. Pairing options available for each chef menu. Attention to detail in not only the presentation, service, and ingredients, but also an exceptional pairing of wine with each course. The desert is mind blowing, amazing composition of layering with grapefruit and kumquat. Portions appear delicate but you will not go away hungry. Highly recommend its traditional Hungarian fish tasting menu!
Ellen Peck
Ellen Peck: What an experience! I had the absolute pleasure of having lunch here today. The entrance is grand yet cozy, and the staff immediately greeted me upon entering. The staff were so warm and welcoming; I immediately felt comfortable. I was seated quickly, and thought the dining area was beautiful. The pictures on their website are accurate, and I was told in the warmer months all the doors are opened. I’ll have to come back to experience that! I ordered the (forgive me, I don’t remember the exact names) duck liver and lamb-filled pasta. I’ve never had duck liver before, and enjoyed it quite a bit! The pasta was to die for. I ate every possible bite. We were surprised with a fun dessert, and I had an americano at the end. I loved that the americano came out on its own little tray with a label including the bean information. I love trying new coffee, so this was a plus for me! Lastly, the popcorn butter was phenomenal. They served three types of bread, too, all absolutely delicious. Don’t try to go carb-free here, indulge, INDULGE!
Response: Dear Ellen Peck, Thank you very much for sharing your kind words here on Google as well. We are overjoyed to read that we were able to exceed your highest expectations and provide you with a truly memorable gastronomy experience. We sincerely hope that you will take your time during your next trip to Budapest and visit us again. Warm Regards, Arany Kaviár Restaurant team
