SEK Budapest International School: what do users think?

Krisztina Lotterné: Very professional teacher staff, my kids love the school! It can be a good option, if you want to be in a real international community. They follow the Hungarian system, subjects are taught in English and in Hungarian. I strongly recommend it.

Edward Krudy: The school is generally very good. Pupils appear relaxed and engaged and appear to enjoy attending. Relationships between teachers and pupils are strong and the level of teaching and learning is generally high. The school does not appear to offer much in the way of individual attention for children - either high performing or under achieving - preferring a one-size-fits-all approach. Communication with parents is not good and teachers, administrators, and support staff generally do not reply to emails, which can be frustrating. The school buildings and grounds are well maintained and the classrooms are bright and airy. The computer room has just been refurbished with Apple desktops. Space is limited and sports facilities are restricted to a gym hall and a small tarmac play area. The sports offering is not strong and like many schools in Hungary sports are seen as the remit of independent sports clubs; this is in contrast to UK and US schools where sports are seen as an essential part of school life. Outdoor play is not actively encouraged during breaks. Music and drama are limited, there is no choir or school band and the children do not have an opportunity to perform beyond an end of year play. Art for children in the lower school is mainly drawing and colouring once a week. The library is not well stocked and is limited to text books. It does not appear to be a destination for children looking to borrow books or to find somewhere quiet and comfortable to read. The turnover of staff is high and teachers often leave in the middle of the school year or even at the start, which causes disruptions to lessons. The school does not involve parents very much and there is no PTA, just informal social media groups set up by parents that can be dominated by two or three vocal parents. The school would certainly benefit from fostering a dialogue with parents. Despite some of the areas where improvements could be made the school remains very popular with children and parents. It is currently running near capacity. This could be partly due to the fact that it is the most modestly priced of the ‘international’ schools. Despite having a range of nationalities the school is mainly Hungarian. This may be an issue for non-Hungarian speakers who could feel shut out. It can also be an issue for Hungarian parents who are paying in the hopes of a higher level of exposure to English. Native English speakers should be aware that the level of teaching in English does not correspond to the level in the same year group of a school where English is the main language. In this sense English teaching can sometimes look more like teaching English as a second language. Despite some of the issues, in general SEK Budapest is very a good school that could be an excellent school with the necessary improvements.

Phuong Lam: This school is only suitable for Hungarian students or students that honestly want to learn Hungarian or Spanish, If your child wants to focus on speaking fluently in English then I do not recommend you to attend this school. A few teachers often quit working even when the school year is still not over due to their personal reasons, which students don't have a teacher in charge of the class for about 2-3 months, practically leads to the lack of knowledge. Also, the conversation during class is mostly in Hungarian except for the English class, so if your child doesn't speak Hungarian, then it's going to be quite uncomfortable at school. Most students come from other countries are not very satisfied with the education system that they are getting.

diablogun: Worse school ever. Rude administrators and very poor understanding of English.
Response: Dear Parents, Please let us know what was the exact problem with our team. We would like to investigate the case. Best regards, SEK Budapest

Jasmin Amer: They are very nice and helpful!

Roxána Hossó: Great education program, well-trained teachers and nice environment.

Enerel Bat-Ochir: Find the international community and the environment

Erika Kiss: Excellent school!

Balazs Koren: One of the few schools in Hungary to do an IB.

Krystal Song: overall, good

The British International School, Budapest: what do users think?

David S: It's our second year at BISB, we have two children (7 and 5) at the school. The school is both very professional, but also warm and nurturing, according to the needs especially of smaller children. There is a very close communication between teachers and parents. The school has invested time and energy into building a very strong sense of community with the families and this shows through and through, e.g. during sport or festive events. I would say the mix of expats vs. locals is about 75/25 which is exactly what we were looking for. It is very easy get connected if you're an expat. We're happy we chose BISB and would recommend the school.
Response: Dear David S, Thank you so much for your feedback - the team here at BISB are thrilled to hear you had a positive experience. Kind regards, Barbara

L E: Decent school, sent my child here but the school is not as good as in Asia. This schools lacks the “push” students need.
Response: Dear L E, Thank you for bringing this matter to our attention. Aspiring to excellence across our academic life and personal development is our key ambition, and we are sorry that your child didn’t experience it that way. Nevertheless, we would love to hear from you to learn more about your experience. You may reach us anytime at marketing@bisb.hu or +36 1 200 8488. Thank you again for your feedback. Kind regards, Barbara

Knight Yair: Very good school with well techer will admit my childern here
Response: Dear Knight Yair, The team here at BISB is thrilled to hear such good feedback, and we’re happy that you chose our school for your child. Kind regards, Barbara

zhangao li: My 3 years old daughter came to the school 3 months ago and she is really enjoying the nursery now. Teachers are professional and nice and well educated as well as friendly and helpful. We really liked the school which is one of the best in Budapest.

Arwen Carr: I went to this school for 2 years from 2008 - 2011 and it was the best school experience of my life. The teachers really care and they make sure you have the best chances in life.

Rimas Ouii: So i might go too school and i was wondering if 13 year olds can bring their phones?
Response: Thank you for your kind review of the British International School Budapest. Please do get in touch with our admissions team at admissions@bisb.hu who will be able to help you further.

Somir: I I am going to this school and some people say that break time is long so how long is the break time?
Response: Thanks for your question Momo. At the British Independent School Budapest, it depends where you are in the school but about 15-20 minutes for a break. Hope that helps.

Sofia Abramovich: Good place for learning beautiful clothing

nvpokr: My child is very happy here. The owners invest a lot into the school development. The teaching staff is very professional, they really love kids and their job. Drama club is amazing! Math and science lessons are really on a high level and my daughter loves them a lot.

Edoardo Peniche: Best International School in Budapest We have lived in multiple countries and continents where my kids have been exposed to different types of education systems, we came to Budapest and we evaluated the different options in the market and if we have the opportunity to choose again, we will select again the BBIS. The philosophy and values of this school are not a marketing slogan, their world class teachers, leadership and owners work really hard every day to make sure they develop the students to become global citizens always encouraging and supporting them individually to achieve their full potential at their own pace. We feel privileged to have our daughters on this school.

Yasemin Oduncu: My daughter has been studying in BBIS for already 3 years and very happy there. The management always responses to any problem. Great teachers, British curriculum,a big variety of after class actiities, brand new school with last techlogy equipment, opportunity to take private music classes from highly professional teachers. For us there are no bad sides...never thought to change to any other school.

Reshma Mathew: Absolutely recommend this school.. Perfect for kids who moved into a new country ciz not only are the teachers extremely fantastic and easily approchable, they all make you feel welcome and at home.. ONLY SCHOOL WITH IB curriculum in Middle Year.

Istvan Szakall: Well managed, caring school. They really live up to the motto: "Enable children to achieve more than they think they can!

Timea Sami: Be very careful when you take a job here, their hiring policy is an unorganised mess, they don't even know who are they looking for but will make you sign, ask for your all personal details and copies, last minute they will just e-mail you how sorry they are!!

Gábor Golyán: Best international school in Budapest.

Dora Krulik: Best private school in Budapest

赵斌: great

Joseph Simon: Anticipatory trust.

American International School of Budapest: what do users think?

iStrawberry Gacha: Best school I've ever been to! Exept, I have a feeling they're helping Apple to sell the products, because in middle school high school, you have to bring your own macbook, and it HAS to be less than 4 years old

YmustI tho: Mediocrity at it's finest definitely not worth the tuition fee

chang Shu: Not worth the cost, and not focus on the subjects and the enrollment. The security is near zero.

Hermione Granger: I agree with Harry. It is really amazing for muggle standards with top-notch security, great schooling, exceptional food, and supportive and kind staff. I hope I haven't exceeded the limits of such a review but I can't stress enough how great of a school this is. Totally worth it.

Gary Hou: This is the best school in history the school is so big!!! And the money to attend the school is so worth it must go and #meetGary

aqune: i mean its ok but like i mean they keep on raising those peeza prices and its kinda scary😳😳like bruh i cant pay for that😅omg bruh moment . . . . ..one time i was trying to focus in class when someone came up to me and told me that my pencil case looked like a my little pony, i promptly took their pencil case and filled it with ketchup and mayonnaise from the cafeteria. doesnt say much about the school but i wanted to share

Leslie Miller: Our children have been at AISB for the past two years. They have both grown so much and become true worldly, independent thinkers. We can't say enough good things about this school!

lily shaw: Very bad experience. After receiving the fee, I was immediately told that there was no degree. Cheat school!

Nedda Zsembery: I have learned here for over 4 years. I love the experience a lot and wish that I could go back there.

Harry Potter: better than hogwarts, for a muggle school

Britannica International School: what do users think?

Sander Wimderlout: The school "Britannica" does not meet its private school status. It lost her level, which it gave in previous years. Behind the high price is low educational status. There are some teachers who are good, but they will leave school, as many teachers who moved to other private schools in Budapest last year. The cost of training was raised, the school administration said that the building will be built and improved. For a year now, nothing has been built or improved (see photo). Do you want your children to study in such an "elite" private school, and your money be used for unknown purposes? Food in the school cafeteria was often dangerous to the health of my child. I do not recommend the Britannica school - ANYONE.

Anson Li: Great school! Very professional!

Greg Barker: I love this school but, full disclosure, I am the head of the secondary school. We are a lovely family sized school with a real passion for education. I can honestly tell you that we try to put children at the heart of every decision we make. Don't take my word for it though, come and see us when you can, I think most parents and children will love us!

Sandra Fekete: I completed by IGCSEs at Britannica back in the day and it has been such fun to return recently and see just how far the school has come! There are still some familiar faces amongst the staff, which I think is a true strength of the school, and despite growing considerably since my student days, the family atmosphere is still there. #ProudAlumni

Kim Mina: this school doesnt teach students properly, they dont even use textbooks. Too much focus on things like uniform and absents in school rather than on studies. There is also discrimination coming from teachers becaus ethey have their favorite students and doesnt pay much attention to others. Also there is a visible dividion between abilities of students , if a student isnt very good at the subject he or she automatically go to "stupid " group which can lower motivation to even study.

Bhavesh Devashrayee: It's very brilliant and has very good celebrations and events, but I really like that they teach us with games and stuff, so it's the the school is AWSOME!☺👍👏😉

lookbang: Good Bri'ish school innit
Response: Thank you for your kind review.

Georg Mv: Excellent brittish school in Budapest

Jakab Ferenc: Oh my yeah god inglis

Swapna Telang: Nice path

Orchidea International School Budapest: what do users think?

TheKingOfGalaxy: The teachers are literally absolute basters only teaching and helping the students they like instead of help wing everyone . It saids its international school were they teach English . But the english is so bad that it’s below A2 level . I personally have a C2 certificate so I can prove that the teachers know less english then the children . Also the Hungarian children are racist and the inside is not as same as the outside .

dori: very bad school my daughter transferred here after half a year and another school. first of all it is very clear that the hungarian children discriminate against the children who don’t speak Hungarian (i’m saying this as a hungarian person). people talk about each other INFRONT OF THE TEACHERS in Hungarian while the other children don’t understand what’s going on. The teacher Gabriella is extremely rude and unprofessional and doesn’t bat an eye at the children who aren’t good at math. she only cares about the kids who she likes. they also transferred the children into a new school building (only high schoolers) and the school building looks like the school should cost zero dollars a month. I don’t understand why we’re paying to have our children go to a school that looks like any basic public school in hungary.

Peter Trant: Well my experience with this school has been fantastic, from the School secretary Laura Kürtössy-Robson to Orosz Balazs who showed us around and answered all of our questions. I grilled the school on every topic from their bullying policy to their extra-curriculum activities and we were very impressed. We are very much looking forward to our son joining this multicultural school where he will meet other children from over 18 different countries.

Anson Li: The admission team is unprofessional with the broken English in e-mails. They are not very responsive and trying to help kids and their families.

Ahmet Dundar: Great facilities with excellent people in it. Well done!

Aisha Arszunkaev: Best school ever!!!

George Portik M.D.: I give 2* because my daughter likes the school. However, this is not as good as it looks from the outside. The promised high level of English teaching is nowhere. The majority of teachers language proficiency is way below than expected from an International School!!! Unfortunately, the tuition fee is not spent on quality education, it is spent on the teachers who work there (who knows what...), the teaching staff is very weak (respect from the exception), instead of native-speaking teachers, teachers who barely speak English, even if the children who speak better if they fix it there is a pig. It's all a joke, and we are also qualified by paying for years for something that isn't worth much! No one should fall for the promised mother tongue education... tesi class in English wow, at the moment I think it's good if the children have 1 mother tongue teacher... but if we calculate how much money a class of 25 people pays every month/year, it could easily be paid for normal teachers . But as long as there are enough 'idiot parents' (and that includes me) who pay school fees, quality will continue to be compromised.

Renáta Maurer: They come from the Middle East, like the Migrants. I can’t find words for the class community so filter. It is full of Muslims (about 80-90%) Teachers are unfair, and teaching is filtering. By the end of the 12th year, students will only receive an English-language high school diploma and from there will only be able to attend an English-speaking / national university.

Tamás Turmezey: Disappointing customer service! We visited the school to obtain information regarding the admission process. We were told to write an email to Mr Thomas Virmont who will help us with the process. Returning home we have sent the inquiry to Mr. Virmont who never replied. We called the school and was told Mr. Virmont will call back in 10 minutes. He never called. We called the school again and was informed to call next week Monday morning. We called again and was told Mr. Virmont is busy, but he will call Us back...He didn't do so we called again. After visiting, writing and calling 5 times and getting 3 promises for call back we gave up contacting the school. We couldn't get any support from to school how could our daughter join the school in 2023! I'm writing this review in April 2022! It can give you idea what to expect in terms of communication with the school if your children would join any of their class… On the other hand we received prompt and professional reply from all other (AISB, BISB,SEK,BBIA) international schools we contacted and scheduled the visit for next week

Ati kuncsik: Best school ever love it !

M.Sameh Ismail: Amazing French school.

Csaba Papp: As a school, it's quite a disaster, completely incompetent teachers, zero nurturing of talent, zero catch-up, but at least the evaluation system is such that no one has to fail if they don't even succeed in teaching French and/or don't attend school.

Lisa La Luna: To follow the news, very dynamic high school.

Avicenna College: what do users think?

Steve Szabó: As an innovation regarding our German language programme at the AIC, we decided to give the opportunity to 11 Avicenna students to spend a week in the Bavarian city Lindau at our partner language school Dialoge. The students stayed with specially selected German host families. Here, our students attended German language classes every morning divided in three different groups ( A1, A2, B2), from 9 am to 12.30pm. In the afternoon they took part in cultural activities, visiting nearby Austrian and Swiss cities, hiking in the Alps and also taking a boat tour on the beautiful lake Bodensee.

Harout Parseghian: AIC staff hiking trip at dobogókő was a very refreshing and upbuilding experience where everyone enjoyed the company of the other and the picturesque scenery of the surroundings. Looking forward for the next one!

Faraz NSH: The personnel are very patient. I studied german language here. The food is good quality. The library is very nice. . The process of making appointments is tiresome. Staying silent ,calm and polite around library or in the dining room is yet not culturalized for very very young students who enter here or Semmelweis students that enjoy the classrooms here. Hot summer days.

Vyom Bhavsar: Avicenna International College helped me kickstart my dream academic life in Europe. I came to Avicenna for its Business Foundation Program to make up for a year of high school I lost that would make my University application weak. After BFP at Avicenna, I was eligible to attend pretty much every university of my choice (in Europe). I came with the intention of moving to Prague but my time at Avicenna was so pleasant that I decided to call Budapest my new home. Experienced professors, diligent faculty and Student Services like I've ever seen in an educational institution before. They made sure I was comfortable in the city far away from home, assisted me with heavy bureaucratic paperwork and ensured I my time was enjoyable. The college's claims of multiculturalism are understatement in my opinion. It is REALLY a very diverse environment to study and nourish in. I'm really lucky to have found this institution.

Amit Kumar: This is best college of study German language because it's provide a best teacher and library. I hope you find the college of avicenna college.

VISHAL MISHRA COMPUTER SCIENCE: It is best for study German language. Here you find good quality food and library for gain more knowledge. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Xuân huy Nguyễn: bad schools and raise student fees to fix the school it still looks like. Moreover, there is no official announcement about this

MD Kamrul Hasan: Dear sir,I am from Bangladesh. I'm interested in your college...

Alexandra Tóth: Best school in Budapest! By far... The nicest people I've met from the janitor, through the teachers and the directorate. There it felt like being in a family, where everyone supports everyone. Every student is lucky of being able to study here!

Dami Lorincz: Apart from astonishingly beautiful building this institute is a confluence of different nationalities and diverse cultures that imparts an environment to promote students’ social, emotional, and academic learning !!!

Yuriy Koberidze: The surrounding area is pure nature with fresh air all year around.

Kathrin: Our son is in his 2nd year at ISB and we're very happy with the school overall. Of course, no school is perfect, but the teachers are very caring, children are nurtured emotionally as well as academically, and the beautiful setting in the woodland, with Normafa nearby, is luckily taken advantage of by the school. Class sizes are small, enabling teachers to work on hands-on projects with the students, making learning more fun (they really do some cool stuff). I wouldn't hesitate recommending this school to others.

Eniko Fried: ISB is a truly internationally minded school with happy, smiling students and a wonderful green environment in the middle of the Buda forests. Friendly, professional teachers and great school management, I love this institution!

Andrea Mikola: ISB is that school where kids enjoy the day, enjoy the work and are proud of results achieved:)! The children are continuously mentored during their daily lives, having so much fun and joy!

REAL School Budapest: what do users think?

Grant Boyd-Gibbins: I couldn’t be more impressed than I am with the REAL School. The ideas behind its sustainability philosophy are ideas that reflect our best intentioned selves, and they are incorporated into daily school life in a natural and harmonious way. The drive up the Danube is beautiful and a great way to start the day. Our 10 year old son is so happy there, that I’m only sorry we didn’t join before. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

Caitlin McDonald: The aim of the Real School is to dream and build a beautiful world and the children are given the opportunity to make this happen every day! The educators are outstanding, the school grounds are so lush for a city school, but most importantly children are heard and directly involved in guiding their own learning experience, it’s empowering to say the least.

Viktoria Szemeredy: A beautiful, progressive school where the happiness of the children is only the start. Brilliant educators and caring and kind students. A unique community with a purpose. The school you wish you went to.

Emese Hasznos: REAL School Budapest is a new school in Budapest - and a new one for the world really - that stands for radically different values which differentiate it or rather make it stand out from all the other schools. REAL School is for sustainability and teaches the children to be brave and courageous to dare to dream and build a better world. The school parts from stumping material into children's heads and promotes discovery and self directed learning along with 21st century key skills, communication, cooperation, creative and critical thinking. The only caveat: don't we all wish - adults - if only we had a school like this when we were young!

Nelli Hevesi: Finally a school where you won't feel sorry for your kids that they spend the whole day at school. In fact, you wish you could shrink to about 1.3 meters, sneak in, and stay there all day to take part in their amazing projects, outside adventures, and get some of those yummy and healthy snacks... Kids don't even notice that they learn. At least not in the traditional way. They feel completely accepted and they accept each other. Feedback given to kids is so constructive. If they can recreate later in their life the experience they get at REAL school, the world will be a happier place.

astro lookbook: Best school for the curious, creative and free minded future visionaries. A school based on heartful engagement and learning through real-life experience while focusing on relevant social impact. A new form of teaching where learning becomes kids' love project, and knowledge its blossoming treasure...

Salvatore Vassallo: Hands down the best school in Budapest. It's the place where kids are at the center of the learning experience. The educators and the management is top notch. Truly blessed to have such a school in our town.

Zsuzsa Garabedian: It's a school you don't expect to exist in Hungary. They are way ahead of the time with being holistic, environmental friendly and vegan. The teachers are exceptionally friendly and very professional. Thank you for being there!

Dorka Klim: The most innovative and child-centered English/International school in town, both primary and high school option, wonderful educators and absolutely unique space and location.

Péter Budai: Innovative new international school that we have been part of since the start, our son enjoys the connection to nature, friendly community and exciting projects.
